Drive Caps for SmoothCote™ FiberRod
Product Details
Use nylon drive caps to protect the top of a fiberglass rod from splintering during installation.
Drive caps are compatible with:
Nylon drive caps will through years of use and many posts. We recommend approximately 1 cap for every 20 posts installed.
Specs
- 2" long
- Nylon plastic
- 20 per package, but sold individually
Installation
- Place the drive cap on top of FiberRod
- Drive into the ground with a rubber mallet or steel hammer
- Take the drive cap off of the FiberRod and continue with additional posts
Precautions
We do not recommend leaving drive caps on the top of posts.

So, if you live in an area that is dry in the summer and has clay soil with buttloads of rocks, the caps that should last for years, may just only live long enough to drive about 20 11/16 posts. That same cap will last all winter long though.
The alternative however, is a lot worse - splitting the tops of the FiberRods is just a non-starter.
As to the question "Can I recommend this product" - well yeah, the key point of the order I'm about to place, is that I'm buying 20 of the caps.

These caps were missing from our order. We didn’t bother to say anything, but it does speak to packing controls. And yes, we looked everywhere in the packages. The rest of what we ordered had no issues and the fence/energizer kit work great so far, but we are only one week in.
