This waterer does its job well—which is providing access to fresh, clean, unfrozen water during winter. Nothing fancy. We find it best to set on a cinderblock so the nipples are at about head high for the majority of the flock (lower if bantams are mixed in). We have used these waterers in temps as low as -20°F (in the coop and protected from wind). The integrated lid handle is useful for carrying water from a hydrant or for hanging the waterer in the coop.

I bought 2 of these heated buckets due to our unusually frigid temps, my birds had already been conditioned to use nipple waters. I am happy to say my birds are much happier and more hydrated than my old way of breaking ice out of tubs and refilling 2x day, also much easier on myself. Highly recommend.

I purchased one of the very first versions of the original “blue bucket” heated poultry wateres and can say that this one is a HUGE improvement. The original was a good idea, but the execution was lacking. The ability to hang the waterer is the greatest advantage, and the six lug bayonet connection is very tough. The removable cable is also fantastic and makes refilling easy. The only downside I can think of is there are only three nipples. This is the best heated waterer on the market that I’ve found. The farm store copy-cats that are coming out do not compare.

I have tried many waterers and this is the first time I can say -I love this waterer- so far- no leaks, clean water and easy to open. It is supposed to be brutally cold this weekend and that will be the real test. I think it will pass with flying colors. I am looking forward to using it in the summer. Since it is insulated I think I can put ice cubes in it to keep the water cooler also.

Kept water from freezing inside a cold chicken coop in -35. Nipples iced up some, but c'mon it was -35. Waterer is built to last, is high quality, and is worth a little higher price than other cheaper heated waters. My kids do the chores and it is easy for them to fill the water and even swap out a nipple. (disclaimer, nipple was damaged from my son chopping out the ice from the inside because someone unplugged the power source). Including 2 additional replacement nipples is a great idea.

I like the Premier Heated Waterer. It holds enough water to take care of my chickens for a day or so and it keeps the water clean when the chickens are scratching on the floor of the building. I think it is great.
