The king feeder is a beast! 55 lbs of feed for the chickens means less trips to fill up the feeder. It’s well made with quality materials.

Chose this based on all the great reviews. Unfortunately the feed we use (New Country Organics) doesn’t automatically fall to the bottom, and there’s no way to manually push it down. The bottom fills up with the powdery part of the food which blocks the bigger pieces (seeds, peas etc). The work around is to manually put the food into the bottom from the outside which defeats the purpose and wastes a lot of food. Bummed this didn’t work out.

The rain hood does not attach and can fly off with a little wind.

Great product. I switched to this feeder and it will hold about one and a half 5 gallon buckets of feed. No more feeding daily. The optional lid/rain cover is taller and heavy than the ones that go over the smaller feeders so it only came off once in a really bad storm. I got the grill to prevent feed flicking and waste.

These work well to save wasted bird food!
