Tips
To reduce “bridging” and “rat-holing”, use a coarsely ground feed to maintain proper flow. Feeds with too many fines may bind up in humid climates.
We prefer coarse cracked, crumble or pelleted type feeds. Our hens will pick their preferred pieces from feeds with a high proportion of fines and waste the rest.
If you find excessive waste, consider changing the feed type, or raising the feeder (making it more difficult to scoop out feed).

These do not live up to the Premier tag line: "Equipment That Works". Tried these feeders for a week and the feed would continually get stuck in the container and not drop down into the feed tray. Birds would eat the food and I would have to come by and jiggle the feeder to get the feed to drop down into the feed tray. Returning this product.

Easy to assemble. Appears sturdy, and the hopper does indeed hold 50 lbs of laying pellets and keeps them up off the floor and clean.

I love this feeder, i have 40 birds to keep fed so this saves time and feed. But, my birds havnt eaten much since I put it in my coop. Not sure if they know what it is... I did place some sunflower seeds, bird seed and mealies in the bottom to teach them. I also placed the feeder in a round hot water tank pan to collect the waste so my bantams can eat too. Its a bit high for my tiny kids to reach right now. All in all I love it!

Like the idea of a high capacity feeder, but as others have mentioned - the feed ends up all over the ground. Also not viable in a pasture with other animals as they knock it over.

I love the concept of what it’s suppose to do but I wasted all the feed I put in it in one day because the chickens dug it all out I don’t think it was well thought out when it was made. Needs a guard in it so they wont dig it out. The guard in it doesn’t discourage the digging in it, which is very wasteful.
