Mountable Teat Feeders
Build your own milk feeding system!
Mountable teat feeders allow shepherds to build an orphan feeding system that fits their needs. Units are designed to pull milk from a non-pressurized reservoir.
Two DIY systems:
- 1. Plate Assemblies (single- or double-teat)
- Attach to welded wire panels, or similar mounting surfaces that offer minimal support. Nipples fit through the back of the plate.
- 2. Wall Mountable Teat Units
- Attach to walls or wood planks (via drilled holes). Nipples are inserted through the front of the teat unit.
Benefits
- One-way valve prevents milk from flowing back into the container so the lambs will always have milk as soon as they start to nurse.
- Built-in filter prevents clots from forming in the tubes—stops blockages and simplifies cleaning.
- Feed 3–5 lambs per teat. Easier than individual bottles!

Replacement Teats
Tips
- Mount assemblies at about the same height that the ewes udder would be from the floor. 10-14" is the average. Teat should be about one inch above the highest milk level of the container that the milk is in. This will keep the teat from dripping, wasting costly milk replacer.
- Make sure to always have milk in the reservoir. If it runs out the lambs will abuse the teats and will require replacement.
- To clean, dismantle the unit and submerge it in hot soapy water. Rinse and dry.

I like how it works, is easy to take apart and clean. I am using it for a 1 month old buck goat. My goal is free choice feeding. So far he drinks from it very well, just has been slow to learn to come and feed free choice. He still needs to be directed after about 5 days. I am still optimistic yet that he will come and drink free choice.

If you feed a lot of lambs like we do—this kit is amazing. Actually even if you just feed one, I could see where it still would be amazing. We have used the buckets in the past and will continue, but this is better as the nipples for the system come as replacements.

We have been using the bucket style feeders with cold milk for a couple of years, but in the Texas heat, we struggled to keep the milk cold enough. The wall mount unit attaches perfectly to the outside of a cooler, which we are then able to fill with milk and ice jugs. Game changer! My little guy is now able to get ice cold milk during triple digit temps, and I don’t have the headache of having to schedule his bottles around my job. Would recommend this to anyone who bottle raises as an alternative!

I have 11 bottle lambs and wasn’t wanting to spend the money for an automatic milking system. I took an old cooler from the garage and set up the double teat unit on a welded wire panel. The setup works pretty good, you just keep cold milk in a container in the cooler and drill a couple holes for the tubing. My only complaint is the tubing is pretty hard to straighten out so it doesn’t always want to stay in the bottom of the container. Overall though this is a great alternative to bottle feed while working.

5 stars for Premier’s customer service. (FedEx lost the first one.) This feeder was desperately needed for two bummer lambs. They took to the new nipple right away. Assembly was slightly confusing because there is only a brochure. The nipple part is easy but, as to what to put the valves into for the milk was completely up to me. I ended up using a medium Ziploc bowl and poking holes into the lid that I then threaded the tubes into and then attached the valves. I didn’t use the weights provided mainly because I wasn’t sure where to install them according the instructions. It worked without them, though. To clean you have to disassemble the whole thing. Not a big deal, but hard to get the valves back into the tubes. I hope Premier makes an installation video with suggestions for the milk container.
