Plant Hand Shears
Plant shears with rounded tips are also popular for trimming sheep and other livestock such as llamas and alpacas.
Also referred to as "safety shears" because of the rounded tips. This makes them ideal for:
- Pruning & trimming indoor & outdoor plants.
- Trimming llamas and alpacas.
- Used in training those new to fitting animals, such as sheep, for show.
Use a Hand Shear Protector, sold separately, to protect and safely store your shears.
- 5" blades
- Powder painted handles
- Double ground, rounded blade tips (since they don't need to penetrate wool follicles)

I bought 3 llamas in early July… they were supposed to be sheared, but were not when I picked them up. They are quite shy, and it’s taken a month to get near them.
I bought these shears because I knew we’d never get them near the electric shears, and with these hand shears, I can leave an inch or two for the winter. The shears cut well, are safe with the rounded tips, and easy on the hand when cutting.
I’m very happy with this product.

I used these to shear my ram which was the first time I’d ever sheared any sheep and although it took about 45 minutes these shears worked great! I wasn’t sure how well he’d hold still and fact I’d never done it before I didn’t feel safe using the sharp-pointed shears. The rounded tips don’t penetrate as well but good enough to get the job done. I’d recommend them to anyone hand shearing for the first time.

I've been trying to find a source for these trimmers. You just can't find them at usual sources for garden tools. I use them a lot. They are so easy to use and more control for clipping close.
