Tips
Precautions
Electric fence is a pain barrier, not a physical barrier. A common mistake is not electrifying it. Animals may escape or become entangled (and may die). On a % basis, entanglement is very rare, but it can and does occur. If animals are scared or starved it will not keep them in.
Netting must be moved when tall grass covers the lower “hot” strands. The alternative? Apply a strip of herbicide to kill vegetation.
Warning! Due to risk of fire, do NOT use continuous output energizers with electric netting or electro-plastic conductors such as rope, twine or tape. Use only with a low or wide impedance intermittent pulse energizer. (Fi-Shock™ brand energizers which are sold as low impedance, continuous current output should NOT be used with electric netting.) All energizers sold on Premier’s website use an intermittent pulse and are suitable for use with electric netting.
Dry conditions and wintertime usage may reduce the effectiveness of electric netting. We do not recommend the use of electric netting during harsh winter conditions—ice and heavy snow can flatten netting and thereby damage it.
Dry or frozen ground may cause post spikes to bend or break if inserted with force. Pilot holes may be needed.

Revising my Review and increasing to 4 stars. The bottom cap issue has been eliminated. I scuffed up the bottom of the post with some sand paper. Wiped it down with some rubbing alcohol let that dry. Used Gorilla Glue Epoxy, mixed it up as the instructions directed smeared a dab on the bottom of the pole and up it a bout an 1/8th of an inch. Popped the bottom cap on in the correct orientation. Wiped off the excess that smooshed out of the cap. Not much but it does need to be wiped off. Let the post set for a couple hours while the chickens free ranged. When they went in for the night I closed the gate as normal and just tapped it down a bit. Let sit til the next morning feeding. And....It is so nice being able to open the gate with out the bottom cap coming off! Perhaps Premier1 should include a small package of epoxy with the gate and directions of this fix. It makes this gate a pleasure to use now! I would give it 5 stars but this was a real pain in the butt and I had to come up with this fix on my own. This is an absolute must do if you are purchasing one of these gates so just plan for the added cost when you make the purchase.

I will say it's much better than having to separate fence sections. But it still needs work. As mentioned by others I've had issues with the top handle pulling off and the cap on the post it links to popping off. Those two things I can live with and get used to griping it correctly to keep those issues to a minimum. But the bottom cap coming off in the post hole is a major pain in the butt. It happens almost every time I use the gate. Can alleviate it some by leveraging the post to the side but it still happens even doing that and this would be difficult to do that with the fence energized. I'm going to try epoxing the bottom cap on the post but I'm unsure if even that will work. If that doesn't solve the issue I'm going to try and drill and pin it in place. That bottom cap really needs improvement. I've shocked myself a couple of times due to messing with it. Now I de-energize the fence before I'm going to go in which kind of defeats the purpose of the gate. But it is better than having to separate fence sections. Look forward to a revised product that will hopefully eliminate these issues. Save one for me when you do!

What a great addition to a great fence system. I used to have to step over the fence before I got this. Previously I did trip on the fence stepping over it, I even stepped over it when it was on once! My only advice to make this better is to add it to the fence/solar charger kit and offer a little discount on the gate bundled with the other parts. Easy to set up and easy to use. You can use one handed with a bit of practice.

Perfect gate for the poultry enclosure, easy to install and easy to open and shut, providing the finishing touch to the poultry fence enclosure I put up. The top brown cap has come off several times; I may end of gluing that.

I really like the convenience of this gate and am glad I got it. I have the 4’ high, 48” wide black and white version. As other reviewers have commented, it’s a good idea that could use some refinement, and the quality of the materials is not as good as the poultry nets from Premier One. Both the bottom end cap (that fits into the base) and the top handle have come off with normal use. The base is a little fiddly in terms of getting the post seated correctly. The gate also seems shorter than my 48” poultry net. The netting itself seems a little coarser and stiffer than the poultry net. I added a post in the center of the gate to keep it from sagging. Despite all of this, I’m still god I got it and look forward to new and improved versions as I build my chicken empire.
