How to Use
Feed mixed salt to sheep at a rate of 0.25 ounces (seven grams) per head per day. The maximum feeding rate of the mixed salt is eight grams per head, per day, which will provide 0.7 mg of selenium.
For goats, add premix to 50 pounds of cattle trace mineral salt to provide copper supplementation. Inclusion rate may need to be lowered if cattle trace mineral contains selenium.
Add to 50 pounds of feed grade salt to make trace mineral salt for your flocks trace mineral supplementation program.
Shepherd’s Choice™ Management Tip
In areas with excess moisture and humidity, add an anti-caking agent to the trace mineral salt to prevent the mixture from clumping. As an alternative, reduce the amount of salt offered to a weekly supply, or less.Several anti-caking agents are specific for salt. They are calcium aluminum silicate, calcium silicate, calcium stearate, magnesium stearate or magnesium silicate. The inclusion rate should start at 1% of the salt mixture and can go up to 2%. Diatomaceous earth can also be used at a 2% inclusion rate.

We have used this product for years. Make things very easy.

Love this product and I’ve begun using it regularly for my does near kidding time and I haven’t yet had any issues related to selenium deficiency like I had prior to use, despite using another great mineral free choice.
My reason for only 4 stars is it’s in a 5lb bag and there is work to be done as far as measuring it out to add to my other batch of minerals. 5lbs is a great shipping size but unless you have a massive bin for minerals, which I don’t, it means measuring out what I need and then having an unsealed bag sitting around until I need it again. It’s a minor inconvenience for the product and won’t at all deter me but some thought on a resealable bag by the manufacturer would be great!

I use this mixed in cattle TM Salt for my goats, per instructions. This way I'm sure I get enough selenium and iodine. The goats eat it with no problems. My goats are healthy and have healthy kids.

This product greatly reduces my mineral expense. The delivery is very fast. I don’t think I can drive to Cedar Rapids and back to the farm as fast as the product is delivered. How do they do it?

Have been using this product for years, back when it was sold by the vet who formulated it. Feed to ewes during pregnancy mixed per instruction. No more lambs born with symptoms of selenium deficiency (unable to use back legs).
