"Side" Crusher
Crushes the spermatic cords but does not cut the skin or the arteries to scrotum. Strong, precise action. Testicles dry up and scrotum shrinks within 21 days.
- Easy plier action requires only one hand
- Small jaws reduce scrotum injury
- Excellent for castrating ram lambs up to 90 days of age
Specs
- 9.5" long
- 1" jaw
How to Use
- Ensure that both testicles are pulled down.
- Only clamp one testicle cord in the scrotum at a time.
- When doing second side, slide the side crusher down a little. You do not want the opposing marks to meet.
Precautions
- Never clamp the entire scrotum with single squeeze and never allow the opposing marks (one from each side) to meet.
- Do not leave pliers closed. This will relax the crush on the pliers.
- Make sure that you crush the cord above the testicle. Crushing the testicle will cause swelling.

Absolutely LOVE this tool for castration. Used it on 20 standard Lamancha bucklings this past season. I opted for between 3 weeks and 6 weeks of age. I did have a sale fall through on a buck when he was 8 weeks of age, and while I was still able to use the side-crusher, it was close to being too small. So I would recommend opting for earlier if your bucklings tend to be large.
All castrations were 100% effective. Zero issues with castrating in warm weather, unlike with banding. I've banded for 23 years, and have been satisfied enough with that method. But the side-crusher will be my preferred method from now on.
I'm harvesting these wethers now, and very interesting to see the tiny shrunken testicles on harvest day.
110% satisfied with this tool, and will be using it for all my castrations from now on.

The product arrived well oiled, and in its own ziploc. Having read others’ reviews, I expect it to start rusting after a year. There is a 1.5 mm gap at each side of the crusher part. I hear this can make it more challenging to keep the vas deferens centered. After receiving it, somebody told me it is barely big enough for goats at 90 days old. My goat is a bit over that, so I’m returning the product. Heed age limit: 90 days.

For the price, I’m a bit unimpressed. Like another reviewer noted, the finish is of poor quality. For the price you would expect a surgical quality item. Mine is maybe 1.5 years old and rusting even though stored properly. Also, the crushing part doesn’t leaves a gap so it’s easy for the cord of a lamb or goat kid to slip into the gap and the whole procedure needs to be repeated, causing unnecessary stress and pain.

The tool appears durable and well made, however the fit and finish were poor considering the price. There were several rough places from casting on the handles.

Just finished a castration on a 3 month old Nigerian Dwarf buckling. Everyone with dwarf goats needs one of these tools! It works so nice and smooth no fuss and it’s easy for smaller hands to use!
Also the animal is back to normal immediately other than a bit of pinched skin, they have no issues like with banding.
So glad I purchased these.
There is a YouTube video that clearly shows the use on these as well.
