This review is regarding my second purchase of this type of crook head.
I strongly prefer these heads to the complete blue crook sold on Premier 1 because these have a smaller opening that catches legs (especially of smaller goats) more easily.
My main complaint is that the holes that accept the handles are not consistent. On my first purchase, a 3/4 dowel rod needed sanding to fit. My second purchase had an opening too large to fit a 3/4 dowel rod, so I had to go up to 7/8 at my local hardware store. The hole on that one was not consistent either, and I needed a piece of coarse sandpaper and a mallet to remove all wiggle.
I assigned this 4 stars because once you have them set up they are significantly better for all of my goats than the blue premade one I have also purchased. The problem is that they are inconsistent, and you will need to take them with you to your local hardware store to find a handle that fits snugly. Once you have your piece of wood, you will need to fit.
With a little time and effort, these heads are perfect.

I’ve used one for over 28 years. Very helpful and useful. I’ve got 2 hooks on 2 wooden staffs at all times. You never know when one might break—and they will break, it’s just a tool.
I use wooden staffs so I can hook the neck with one end or the hooves with the opposite end.
