Length—How to choose?
The shape and length of the handles help determine the hand strength required to squeeze the trimmer. Maximum leverage isn’t always desired; many shepherds prefer comfortable trimmers that fit their hands for all day use.- Longer blades may reduce the # of overall cuts needed; blades longer than 2" can clear most hooves with one cut

I was amazed at the reviews I read before I made my purchase. But everything they said I found to be true. The return spring is a bit weak and the handles are a bit small for my larger hand ... BUT ... Oh Boy Do They Cut!!! Very little effort and just a joy to use. Well worth the money spent ... Anybody want to buy a used pair of farm store trimmers? CHEAP!

I love these trimmers! They are comfortable to use and I only wish serrated blades could be sharpened and keep the serrations! But they far surpass any other trimmers I've used for trimming goat hooves.
