We have had chickens full time since 2009 and finally decided to get one of these. Yep, it’s my new favorite accessory. Why did I wait so long? How many times did I need to get caught out late and show up at home after dark to find some predator disaster before trying this? The light sensor is ideal and adjustable, the factory setting was very close to where it needed to be. The final test for this review will be how it does in severe ice and snow, but in all other conditions so far it’s great. I put it on the south side of the coop to help with that.

Easy install. I don’t miss those trips to the coop in the morning and evening one bit. This is our 3rd year with chickens and the automatic door opener is a welcome upgrade to our setup.
When I built the coop door I had planned in this type of door. I was able to connect it to my existing door (less than 5 pounds) and plug it into a receptacle.

Going on a recent trip prompted me to purchase this product. It works great! Using PoultryNet to create the outdoor space, the chickens were out of the coop at 7am and then the door closes at 7:45pm, about a half hour after they roost. I have used it for a few months and it saves many trips to open and close the coop. Wished I’d bought this long ago. It is costly, but like all the products I have purchased from Premier 1, it seems to be well made.
Only problem I found was in the instructions both written and online. The instruction font is light grey on white background that makes it very hard to read. The title fonts are black on white that is easy to read. It was much easier to install the door on the coop than it was to read the instructions.

We’ve had the door for about 6 months now and it works great! There’s no power to our coop and I haven’t even had to change the batteries yet. Timer is accurate and reliable, and makes things really convenient. I also used the optional rollers, as the opener is mounted next to the door (not above) and the operation is smooth. So glad we got this door and the chickens are too — especially on the weekends.
