I knew from the other reviews this was going to leak, but needed an automatic trough. The design on the valve is awful 3/4" stepped down with 3 pieces to 3/8". The manufacturer should have used a 2 piece design for less leaks. Once copious amounts of thread tape and silicone were applied the leaking stopped and the waterer works as it should.

I am usually pleased, but this time not so much. I bought two of these in January 2023, and they are broken. The housing seems solid enough to protect the mechanism from the animals but not that durable. First, they leaked the entire time. Teflon tape, etc., would not stop the leaking from the white plastic part (leaked from day 1) where the hose goes on and eventually broke… I have not had a chance to repair it, but I’ll get to it… Housing is good… parts, not so great.

All good. The sheep love it and it seems to work. I just put them in with little effort, but we’ll see how long they last. I suspect they will perform well due to the fact that the filling mechanism is protected from them messing with it.
The instructions could be a little more detailed… like how to access the float system, but it wasn’t rocket science.

I was excited to give this a try but was definitely disappointed.
Cons: instructions come in Spanish, hard to assemble, hard to access float area without something to pry off cover, chickens stand in the water and poop in the water so you have to dump it every day (defeating the reason I bought it. plus, it has made a mud hole from dumping it every day), edges are sharp and I have been cut multiple times when I dump/clean it, the float is finicky and doesn't work all the time (we use a gravity water system so this may not be an issue for some), hard to clean (especially the float area because you have to have something to pry the cover off with).
Pros: heavy-duty, won't tip over, holds a decent amount of water.
I do NOT recommend this with chickens. Maybe it would be good for a dog or an animal that won't stand in the water and poop in it.

Came with very little instructions and the instructions received were only available in Spanish. Float was/is inoperable. You need to be handy in order to figure out how to get the float to work. We couldn't.
