Haven’t used the stands yet. Chicks just started hatching on Valentine’s Day!

This stand makes having chicks so much easier when it comes to providing a clean environment. I use it to get their water up out of the shavings so they have clean water. The chicks seem to enjoy jumping up and off of it too.

This simple stand works great to keep the chicks water clean. Even when they walk thru it, as they come across the grate, dirt tends to fall off, so they track alot less into the water. By raising and isolating the waterer above the bedding, it also minimizes any kicking of bedding into it.
I use it with 30 Sex-link chicks, pullets. They seem to be calmer birds than Rhode Island Reds. I also noticed that it is more helpful when the chicks have adequate space to move around. When I first got the stand, the chicks were outgrowing their cage and it did little to help the water situation. Once I moved them to a roomier cage the water stand works wonders and we all love it.
I highly recommend this.

Eggscellent! A great solution to providing clean water to chicks. It’s necessarily big, so measure your space before ordering. For us, the best use is to only put a waterer over the hole in the center. This provides a wide bank, or door mat of sorts, that the chicks walk over to get to the water, and the shavings stuck to their feet can fall off and through the holes in the platform. We tried both food and water on the platform but a chick got caught in the center hole in a freak accident and died. No more propping water on tuna cans, heavy bricks or boards. Worth the price and the space you have to provide in the brooder.

I thought I would use this right away in our brooder but 1) it really is too large (even now when our brooder has expanded to its full 4ft x 4ft); 2) the hole in the middle is not helpful and limits how you can arrange food/water with not enough room for chicks to move around it; and 3) super young chicks can get stuck under it unless you cover the hole in the middle. I’m giving it 4 stars because it’s a solid-made product and in the right brooder or run it would be very helpful. I’m hoping once we move the chicks to the coop/run we will find a use for it!
