Precautions
Will not show direction of a fault within a roll of netting. It will indicate direction if used between two rolls of netting. Why? Netting ends twist all the conductors of the net. If used in the center, the device will not be able to indicate the direction of the leak because of these twists. It can be used to determine the net in which the fault is located.
When the unit reads "LL" or "low batt," the battery on the tester (not the energizer's battery) is low and needs to be replaced.

No ground probes. An effective contact point. Amp readings. Great directions to find a fault. Fits our polyrope cross fencing. Great device.

I have always wanted this Speedrite device, but was put off by the price. In the mean time I purchased two fence testers from the local farm store in the proverbial 'penny wise, pound foolish' maneuver. Both broke within the first season of use and the last one I purchased I have kept working despite the fact that the battery cover is so poorly designed that it cannot be closed and must be taped shut.
So this spring I forked over the cash for the Speetrite Fault Finder. It is well made, and simple to use. The best feature is that it doesn't require you to push a ground probe into the soil to take a reading. No wires! I even bought a hard sided case (Pelican model 1060) to protect it and keep it clean. That might be overkill, because the device fits into my jacket and hip pockets. Looking forward to many years of problem free use.

An excellent product. The price has turned me away for years. Finally I decided to buy and wish I had years ago. No more ground probe. This fault finder is durable, easy to use, fits in your pocket and is well worth the money. I am sure this fault finder will last years of abuse.

I love these fence testers. They are a must have tool for electric fencing. Extremely durable and well made. I've seen them get soaked in pouring rain multiple times and continue to work after being dried out. Definitely worth the money. They are my favorite of several brands I've used!

This tester is head and shoulders above every other tester I have used. It's easy to use, easy to read, very reliable. It does not need a ground! Prior to this the only reliable fence tester we had was my wife (who for some reason doesn't mind getting zapped) - at last she's got a break!
