This waterer does its job well—which is providing access to fresh, clean, unfrozen water during winter. Nothing fancy. We find it best to set on a cinderblock so the nipples are at about head high for the majority of the flock (lower if bantams are mixed in). We have used these waterers in temps as low as -20°F (in the coop and protected from wind). The integrated lid handle is useful for carrying water from a hydrant or for hanging the waterer in the coop.

I purchased replacement Heated Poultry Waterers for my 27 laying hens and 2 roosters. Living in Northern Minnesota we get winters that have been down to -40°F. With the cold weather I wanted to maintain a good watering system. I had one that the cord was shorting my electrical breaker for my chicken coop and run, so I started with replacing just the cord which worked, but I wanted the new top spout to fill without removing the lid. I waited patiently for them to come back in stock and they are a lifesaver!

I recently added 6 new hens that never used nipples for water and they started drinking immediately as they follow suit of the other chickens! They are all happy and content and continue to produce 16–18 eggs a day. I have a very happy flock of chickens!

I would highly recommend these waterers and have already suggested them to other chicken owners.

Very well built. Some chickens learned how to use it very quickly.

Our old heated waterer broke down when I needed it the most. This item was on back order, I called and ordered it for when it came in to be shipped. It arrived in a timely manner. Only one on the market that is heated, top fill and has a long cord. It took a couple days for my girls to get used to the nipples. I am pleased with this product.

I absolutely loved this product. Worked well until it got under 10 degrees and then the nipples froze. So I was still having to go out there multiple times to unfreeze them. This year in Tennessee was unseasonably cold, but I’m sure that other regions where winters are often 0° and below will have the same problem. I love how easy it is to refill from the spout in the lid. You don’t have to fight taking the whole lid off. Even with the nipple problem, I would still recommend this waterer as it kept my chickens wattles out of their drink and preventing frostbite.

I’ve had the heated poultry waterer for 4 years now. It works exactly as it should even in sub zero temps. The biggest headache was the lid being frozen on when the condensation froze at the edge. The new lid took care of this only issue. Thank you Premier 1 for another product that you improve for exactly what we need.
