Note: The exact number of birds to water is difficult to determine as there are many factors that influence intake; salt and protein levels in the diet, humidity, temperature, productivity (growth or egg production) and the birds ability to process feed and water.
How to Use
- Filling the unit is done through the top of the tank.
- While filling, the spigot is sealed by a rubber key style bung.
- Once you place the tank onto the tripod, remove the bung, slacken the carry handle and let the pan fill.
- Once it covers the outlet pipe, tighten up the carrying handle creating a vacuum that controls the release of water as your birds drink.

So far great waterers!
Just wondering how I can heat them in the winter, any thoughts?

After a full year of use, I’m overall very let down by this waterer. Especially given the higher-than-average price tag of $70. The base is nice and stable and easy to clean since it is so open. The rest of the waterer really misses the mark. Because of the small top opening, it’s impossible to clean the inside. The small opening means you can really only fill it with a hose. So if you’re in an area without access to a hose, you need to use a funnel to fill the waterer from a bucket. The bung design is incredibly frustrating when you need to refill. For $70 I would expect some type of tether or even a valve system instead of a loose rubber bung you need to reattach every time to fill the waterer. We had to buy carabiners just so they wouldn’t get lost. The rubber bung is incredibly difficult to use in the colder months when some stuff is partly frozen. The holes you feed the bung into are slightly offset which means it really only goes in “properly” from one direction.

I absolutely love this watering system. My main problem was my chickens soaking their in the summer time I even tried a small child swimming pool they wanted nothing to do with it. Now I just spray the bottom once a week and refill when needed. I did raise it off the ground with about 2in concrete blocks because when they scratch to make a dust bath they seem to do it right next to the water bowl, so I will be buying more. The only thing I would suggest is it coming with another bottom so you can wash the first one and have a place to set the jug down other wise you have to have someone hold it. So when I don’t have help I just plug it and rinse with the hose and wipe off any slimy residue. Highly recommend!

I highly recommend this waterer to all those who have more than 100 chickens. It's easy to fill while it serves more than ten birds at a time.

I have both the 7.5 and 2.5 versions. These work great. The bases are easy to clean and are a breeze to refill.
