To reduce “bridging” and “rat-holing”, use a coarsely ground feed to maintain proper flow. Feeds with too many fines may bind up in humid climates.
We prefer coarse cracked, crumble or pelleted type feeds. Our hens will pick their preferred pieces from feeds with a high proportion of fines and waste the rest.
If you find excessive waste, consider changing the feed type, or raising the feeder (making it more difficult to scoop out feed).

I owe Premier 1 an apology. After I complained about nothing ever showing up with all the parts, not only did they immediately contact me to make it right, I eventually realized that I had that stupid little piece the whole time. So, not only do I give this feeder 5 stars (it really is perfect for dumping a 50# sack of feed, not letting the chickens knock all the food all over the place, and keeps it dry in rain) but Premier’s customer service has been stellar. So, my apologies, Premier, you and this feeder are both great!

I’m really enjoying this feeder! I got the rain shield with mine since my birds are on pasture. They always have plenty of dry feed! It’s good quality. The only issue I've seen was the legs didn’t seem secure once snapped in. I added a screw to each leg from the top and you can’t see it. I will buy again as needed.

Love the feeder. Easy to assemble but so far no product from Premier has shown up with all the parts. This one missing the little doohickey that the handle to the lid screws into.

We built our own 4" PVC Tube feeders that held a total of 30-lbs of crumble. We wanted something that would keep a bit more food. Our homemade feeders would get stuck and require us to knock down the food. We purchased the 70-lb feeder, and so far, it’s been good. It holds about a 50-lb bag and a half of crumble. (It lasts us 2 and a half weeks.) It’s undercover, so I have no issues with rain. My only complaint is that the birds are a little messy, and they spill/splash out some of the food on the ground around the tray. It would be nice if they offered a larger tray underneath the food dispenser to catch some of the spillages. For the moment, I can place a plastic tray under the entire feeder to help with the mess. If you’re looking for a large dispenser feeder, I would look no further.

All the parts fit together perfectly and it’s very sturdy especially after filling with feed.
