Tips
To reduce “bridging” and “rat-holing”, use a coarsely ground feed to maintain proper flow. Feeds with too many fines may bind up in humid climates.
We prefer coarse cracked, crumble or pelleted type feeds. Our hens will pick their preferred pieces from feeds with a high proportion of fines and waste the rest.
If you find excessive waste, consider changing the feed type, or raising the feeder (making it more difficult to scoop out feed).

All the parts fit together perfectly and it’s very sturdy especially after filling with feed.

It holds an entire 50 lb bag of feed and the chickens love it. We currently have it in a covered run feeding 50 7 week old chicks and they have no problems with it. The only thing I would say is that you need to keep it covered and dry because I could see water getting all over the feed in the bottom tray in the rain. Open it up and stir the feed around every once in a while. It tends to take all the feed out from the center. I’m sure the rest will follow down the center hole once it emptied enough but it weird me out a bit seeing the center of the feed being so low in the bin when the feed on the sides is still up high.

Premier 1 Supplies’ customer service was outstanding. There was an issue with the handle on the top of the bird feeder. I sent an email and pic of problem and they sent out new part right away! Loving the new feeder. I definitely recommend buying from this company.

Easy to fill and chickens have no problem getting to the feed.

Sure wish I’d had got this feeder sooner, holds a great deal of feed and no problems with it clogging any at all. I’ve used from fine ground feed to course feed and all have done well which is saying a lot with the 80 to 90 percent humidity we experience most days. I have them in and outside.
