New! Little Giant® Trough-O-Matic® Anti-Siphon Float Valves keep stock tanks, troughs and barrels filled to a set level. As animals drink, the float drops and opens the valve. When the water returns to that level, the valve closes.
A built-in anti-siphon valve keeps tank water from being drawn back into your supply line if water pressure drops. Choose from a plastic or aluminum housing.

Tips
- Set the water level—Use the upper mounting holes to keep water about 4" below the rim; use the lower holes for about 2-3/8" below the rim
- Extra-wide rims—Mount the brackets directly to the rim with the included self-tapping screws instead of thumb screws; pre-drill with a 1/8" bit if needed
- Tools needed—Flat and Phillips screwdrivers, needle-nose pliers and food-grade anti-seize compound (recommended)
Common Questions
- Do I need the anti-siphon feature?
- It depends on your setup and local rules. Back-siphoning can happen when pressure in your supply line drops, such as during a line break or heavy water use elsewhere on the system. Low pressure can pull tank water back into the line. The anti-siphon valve blocks that reverse flow and helps keep dirty tank water out of your household or well supply. Some local plumbing codes require backflow protection on livestock tanks.
- Will it fit my tank?
- It mounts on the rim of most plastic and metal stock tanks, troughs, barrels and pans. The expansion brackets fit rims up to 2" thick and 4.3" wide.
- Can I use this float valve in winter?
- The valve is NOT heated. In freezing weather, ice can lock the float in place or freeze the water in the valve and hose. A tank de-icer helps keep open water around the float, but exposed hoses can still freeze. In very cold climates, a heated waterer may be more practical.
