It can be a little tricky to learn how to use it, but it’s pretty nice as the chickens don’t panic as much when you use it as when you bring in the large net. They freak out more with the net, the hook allows me to be more covert and sneak in.

Bought this to assist in catching laying hens. No more diving into the flock, simply walk to target hen, hook leg and pull to you. Easy on the birds.

I’ve just started my first flock. I decided from the beginning these would be meat/egg chickens, not pets. At 8 weeks old, they were outside in their yard. I noticed one of them was having issues. Because I had not trained them to come to me, I couldn’t catch the chicken for examination. I purchased this hook and some dried meal worms. The meal worms got them close enough and this hook allowed me to gently reach out and catch the sick bird. Length of this hook is just right. Worked as expected.

I purchased this product shortly after I started my first flock of laying hens. I never really needed it, however, because the breeds I raise are quite docile and the hens are easily enticed with meal worms. Last summer I added the first baby rooster to my flock and now he is beginning to challenge me. The poultry hook has become invaluable as I can grab his leg if he gets aggressive. I used my table vise to make the hook gap smaller so it is easily customizable. I’m very pleased with the high quality of the product and I do recommend.
