Which PoultryNet® is right for you?
We offer many fences to fit your situation, including complete kits, different heights and lengths, multiple colors, drivable posts and positive/negative options for dry soils. Visit this link to compare all PoultryNet options.New to electric fence? Premier’s Starter Kits may be a good choice. They include netting, extra support posts, a solar fence energizer, ground stake and a digital tester.
Benefits
No extra gates needed. Just turn off the energizer and pull the first post to create an opening. For added convenience, a PoultryNet® Gate can be used to provide easy access without the need to turn the energizer off.
PoultryNet® Plus 12/48/3 is identical to standard 48" PoultryNet, but to help with sagging, we’ve added more posts to shorten the distance between them (6'8" vs. 10'). More posts means less sag and a more versatile fence which adapts easily to curves and hills.
Double spike posts are more stable in soft soils. Green is available for those who prefer to have the fence blend into the background or landscape.
Common Uses
- Contain and control the movement of chickens, ducks and other poultry on a daily or weekly basis
- Rotate poultry to fresh grass as a food source and to reduce disease risks
- Keep small flocks in the backyard. When managed well, chickens are an indispensable garden tool—turning pesky insects and weeds into rich compost.
- Keeps out deer, bears, raccoons, rabbits, foxes, coyotes, stray dogs and skunks
- Can be used to contain and control livestock other than poultry, such as sheep, goats, cattle and guard dogs

See PDFs and videos above for additional installation instructions.
Precautions
Electric fence is a pain barrier, not a physical barrier. A common mistake is not electrifying it. Animals may escape or become entangled (and may die). On a % basis, entanglement is very rare, but it can and does occur. If animals are scared or starved it will not keep them in. The first time you put the animals in the net, you should be available to watch them for a while. That way if one were to get into the fence and get caught, you can turn the power off and get them loose.
Netting must be moved when tall grass covers the lower “hot” strands. The alternative? Apply a strip of herbicide to kill vegetation.
Warning! Due to risk of fire, do NOT use continuous output energizers with electric netting or electro-plastic conductors such as rope, twine or tape. Use only with a low or wide impedance intermittent pulse energizer. (Fi-Shock™ brand energizers which are sold as low impedance, continuous current output should NOT be used with electric netting.) All energizers sold on Premier’s website use an intermittent pulse and are suitable for use with electric netting.
Dry conditions and wintertime usage may reduce the effectiveness of electric fencing. Ice and heavy snow can flatten netting and thereby damage it.
Dry or frozen ground may cause posts to bend or break if inserted with force. Pilot holes may be needed. We recommend using drivable or single spike posts in hard soils. Double spike posts provide more stability when the ground is soft.
Troubleshooting
If possible, separate the fence into sections. Then progressively reconnect, checking voltage as you go. When the voltage drops, you’ve identified the section with the problem. Listen for snapping sounds. This occurs when a conductor is close to a grounded wire, metal objects, fallen branches, or other green vegetation causing a “short”. Shorts cause fence voltage to collapse and allow animals to touch the fence without feeling pain.

I bought 200' of the Poultry Net to keep our chickens out of a newly planted vineyard. Okay, it works for that quite well. My only gripe with the Poultry Net is that it is not nearly as good as the PermaNet I use as the chickens' primary fence. The posts are lighter (as described) and bendier so it is almost impossible to get the fence to not sag. This is even with the "Plus" upgrade with closer spacing on the posts. Also the double spikes are not nearly as heavy duty as on the PermaNet. The netting itself seems excellent quality (I got the green which does have a white conductor in it for visibility). But it is $0.45/foot cheaper. So IF you have a need for a lightweight fence and IF you want to go on a budget then the PoultryNet will work. Otherwise shell out the extra bucks for the PermaNet, it's a much better product.

I had the regular poultry netting before and was frustrated with putting it up and getting it not to sag. This was SO easy to put up. Double spike posts went in to our rocky ground easily and are staying up and straight, no sagging! Will continue to replace our regular poultry net with this!

Little by little I am replacing my poultry netting with this product. At first I did not care for the flexible posts, but in use I find them essential, i.e. easy to bend and access enclosure. Pro: Both posts and netting are green, blends well with rural landscape; the steel step in posts seem almost indestructible; and lightweight / easy to reposition in order to cut the grass and rotate stock. Con: more expensive compared to other net fencing on the market.

The fence came quick and the price was right. It was about the best overall deal on poultry fencing I found. I got the plus, with closer post which I think works better on ground that slopes like mine does. It does go up quickly but there is some time for weed eating. Even with a close shave on the grass, there was still arching because of the proximity of the second wire ,which is the hot one, to the grounp.

This fence was very easy to set up and did not sag or snag. I was going to wait until my husband got home from work to do it for me, but was so excited about having it done, that I did it myself in just very little time. The YouTube video was very helpful, which I watched twice before going out to do it. I could see without that instruction, if you did it another way instead of grasping poles and throwing them out, you could get a tangled mess.
