Benefits
Electric netting is quick and simple to move. Even for new users, it takes less than 10 minutes to go from out-of-the-box netting to installed fence.

No extra gates needed. Just turn off the energizer and pull the first post to create an opening. For added convenience, a PoultryNet® Gate can be used to provide easy access without the need to turn the energizer off.

PoultryNet® Plus 12/48/3 is identical to standard 48" PoultryNet, but to help with sagging, we’ve added more posts to shorten the distance between them (6'8" vs. 10'). More posts means less sag and a more versatile fence which adapts easily to curves and hills.

Double spike posts are more stable in soft soils. Green is available for those who prefer to have the fence blend into the background or landscape.

Installation
The same “unroll and then unfold” process applies to all electrified nets. Minimal strength or skill needed (and no tools). Extra supports such as FiberTuff™ step-in posts are useful at corners, curves and ends. You will need a fence energizer to electrify the net.

Ensure the net is at least 2" away from anything metal (e.g. T-posts, existing wire fences, spikes on support posts, etc.)

Precautions
PoultryNet® is not effective with baby chicks that are small enough to crawl through the net openings and therefore are not deterred by the electric shock.

Electric fence is a pain barrier, not a physical barrier. A common mistake is not electrifying it. Animals may escape or become entangled (and may die). On a % basis, entanglement is very rare, but it can and does occur. If animals are scared or starved it will not keep them in. The first time you put the animals in the net, you should be available to watch them for a while. That way if one were to get into the fence and get caught, you can turn the power off and get them loose.

Netting must be moved when tall grass covers the lower “hot” strands. The alternative? Apply a strip of herbicide to kill vegetation.

Warning! Due to risk of fire, do NOT use continuous output energizers with electric netting or electro-plastic conductors such as rope, twine or tape. Use only with a low or wide impedance intermittent pulse energizer. (Fi-Shock™ brand energizers which are sold as low impedance, continuous current output should NOT be used with electric netting.) All energizers sold on Premier’s website use an intermittent pulse and are suitable for use with electric netting.

Dry conditions and wintertime usage may reduce the effectiveness of electric fencing. Ice and heavy snow can flatten netting and thereby damage it.

Dry or frozen ground may cause posts to bend or break if inserted with force. Pilot holes may be needed. We recommend using drivable or single spike posts in hard soils. Double spike posts provide more stability when the ground is soft.

Troubleshooting
If the voltage drops below 3000V on the net, you need to turn off the energizer and unhook the net from the energizer. Test the energizer first. If the voltage is 5000V or higher on the energizer, the problem is in the net.

If possible, separate the fence into sections. Then progressively reconnect, checking voltage as you go. When the voltage drops, you’ve identified the section with the problem. Listen for snapping sounds. This occurs when a conductor is close to a grounded wire, metal objects, fallen branches, or other green vegetation causing a “short”. Shorts cause fence voltage to collapse and allow animals to touch the fence without feeling pain.

With PoultryNet®, the lowest live strand may be caught under the PVC and touching the post’s metal spike causing a “dead short”. (This may occur with end posts, too.) Separate the energized wire from the steel spike and recheck the voltage.

Heavy green vegetation will drain the energy out of an electric fence. In areas with rapid grass growth, weeds can render netting useless by midsummer. Mow (or move) the fence line often, or spray a herbicide to reduce grass contact.

Warranty
With proper care, netting should last 5–7 years. Replacements will be prorated.

Some users dislike the tendency of standard PoultryNet to sag. So we developed PoultryNet Plus with extra posts to reduce sag and enable the fence to better adapt to corners and curves. (FiberTuff support posts are still recommended at 90° corners.) When aesthetics are a concern, less sagging = more eye appeal. The extra posts make the net heavier to handle so we shortened the rolls to 50 ft and 100 ft lengths.

Seems like a good product.

I had to deenergize the bottom strand. It constantly shorts out if you don’t keep it mowed 1" off ground. I would like for the posts to be stiffer. I had to brace several because they bend and bow over.

This netting is for large birds only... heavy bodied or meat birds who don't move around much. Active small birds go right through it like it wasn't even there. We wanted the Shock-Or-Not fencing, since we had small chicks, but started with this one because it was available when we needed it. However, it does keep predators out, and our larger birds are now unable to get through it, so it will become increasingly secure as our birds mature. Still, if you have banties, or a lot of young pullets and cockerals, you will need some additional netting or a different net. We are otherwise extremely pleased with how easy it was to set up, and plan to continue to use it on our grown birds as a portable pen as we move them around the yard. We do plan to get the Shock-Or-Not for the purpose of containing smaller birds, however.

My items arrived quickly, and I was able to install my fencing easily after watching the setup video. The charger is easy to get set up out of the box! Works great for our chickens. 2 rolls of 100' is sitting at 5k on the fence reader in short grass.

My 48" net fence, double-pointed, 8 ft between posts, arrived in about 4 days. I wish my first two orders were this type, because it sags less between poles, and the double-points make it very easy to push into the soil. My total fence, around chickens and organic garden, is 460 feet, all working off one solar energizer, from my original kit.
