This crook is lightweight and works great for catching ewes, even wooled ewes. It was my first crook and after having it, I don't know why I waited so long to get one. They are very helpful tools. The reason for only three stars? I've had two and they both only lasted about a year before the fiberglass handles broke. One broke when a 70 lb lamb that was caught ran by a post, breaking the shaft in the middle. A good wrench, but it wasn't a big lamb. The other had something set on the end, splitting it. So no, it wasn't like I just dropped them and they broke, but I did expect something used for handling livestock to hold up a bit better. I think next time I'll try a different crook.

The hook broke off the first time we used it. We'll stick to the aluminum crooks.

I have bought two and both had there handles were broken with in a month by young wild ewes. I also found this crook useless if you tried to use it to move a lamb in a jug closer so you can pick it up.

Used to be called the "Colroy" crook. This is my favorite crook... it's light, strong, and feels balanced. I love this crook and would highly recommend it... I have used it for everything from lambs, ewes, small rams, closing gates, lifting buckets and Porta Troughs from over or through the fence, etc. I do find, however, that it is a little small to fit around the neck of big rams! I have a large, heavy oak crook for that when I need it.
