This shepherd’s cane is a joke. First time I used the cane, the crook came off the staff. The rubber around the shaft would not allow the crook to be reattached. I finally took a lighter to shrink the rubber to reattach the crook. I then used Gorilla Glue to reattach the two pieces. This may be lightweight but far from useful for us. Very disappointed.

I recently purchased one of these shepherd’s crooks to replace a wooden one that broke. I admit I was disappointed with the size (that was my fault for not actually getting a tape to see the actual height). However, I was very disappointed with the performance of this crook. The handle came off the first time I used the crook to separate a kid from doe. Then, the rubber coating would not allow the crook to be reattached. I finally used a lighter to reshrink the rubber coating so I could glue and replace the crook. I am disappointed in this equipment.

This is my 4th crook. Two lost, one broken but I love the lightweight and feel. I can catch a small lamb with the crook end and I just enjoy having it as a walking stick in the pasture.

This is our second fiberglass crook from Premier 1. We use both for different situations. (The other is the Kiwi Crook.) This one works really well for us to snag a flighty sheep. It’s well constructed and we’re pleased with it.

Got two. One cracked at the seam after the second time I used it. Now it will bend when you put any pressure on it. Not a very hard fiberglass. More like a hard piece of black plastic pipe.
