We find these much safer than metal and wire heat lamps. The lamps are mostly used in our lambing barn or chick brooders. Even though we find our lamps safer than others, we take every precaution to make sure our lamps stay safe. We secure them 20" or more above the lambs/kids (slightly lower for chicks), we wrap the cord around our panels and we clip them to the panels. It’s our experience that 175 watt bulbs produce enough heat for lambs and goat kids, while 250 watt bulbs are more suitable for poultry.

I feel like the safety of my birds has been increased by switching to this light. I’m not worried about fires as much. It’s well built and has a very long cord. The top of the unit has a spot to clip a carabiner to, making it easier to connect to a chain and adjust height. Can’t go wrong with this light.

Best heat lamp out there! I use these for goat kidding season. Seems like they always kid on the coldest days. Since kids can’t regulate their body temps the first few days, these lamps are a lifesaver! I trust them in the barn & never worry about a fire. We leave them on 24/7 when kids are a few days old; after that, only turn them on if needed. We have them hanging with a secure frame/wire blocking access to the wire & lamp so the goats can’t knock into them or access them. We also use a ThermoCube which automatically turns on at 36°F. We have these in every kidding pen & use during extremely cold weather. Highly recommend!

I love these lamps. I was grateful it was already assembled as I put one together before and it was a bit challenging for old hands!
