We find these much safer than metal and wire heat lamps. The lamps are mostly used in our lambing barn or chick brooders. Even though we find our lamps safer than others, we take every precaution to make sure our lamps stay safe. We secure them 20" or more above the lambs/kids (slightly lower for chicks), we wrap the cord around our panels and we clip them to the panels. It’s our experience that 175 watt bulbs produce enough heat for lambs and goat kids, while 250 watt bulbs are more suitable for poultry.

Well made worth the my money. Pigeons sleep under the light on a perch. I have the light on a thermostat.

I have used the metal lamps for years and always worried about barn fires. My friend last year lost most of her stock and barn from a heat lamp that the ewe must have messed with, so this year, I bought the premier lamps. So much easier to secure. I use a chain and a safety cord. So much safer. Ewes can not bash them around and break the bulb, kept new born triplets warm and cozy during minus a zero night in upstate NY.

So far I love this product! We’ve had it a couple weeks. It is so much sturdier than the other heat lamps we have! I usually replace our other lamps every couple years as the sheep would be too rough on them. I don’t know if we will ever have to replace this one. It is worth the extra money!
