Common Questions
- Can I use the 15Ah battery as a replacement for a 12Ah battery?
- Yes. The 15Ah battery has the same physical dimensions (6"L x 4"W x 4"H) but offers 3 additional amp hours for extended runtime.
Tips
Failure to maintain a sealed lead acid (SLA) battery will dramatically shorten the lifespan and/or permanently damage it.
- Immediately after recharging, allow the battery to “rest” for 45–60 minutes, then measure the voltage. A fully charged battery should have a resting voltage between 12.8V–12.6V.
- If storing batteries over the winter, periodically recharge to full at least once per month.
- Keep batteries from freezing, especially if discharged lower than 11.8V.
- Recharge frequently even if the battery is not fully discharged. Don’t allow the voltage to drop below 10.5V for an extended period. Premier’s all-in-one solar fence energizers contain advanced circuitry to recharge 12V batteries using the solar panel when exposed to direct sunlight.
- To extend battery life, use a 2 amp or less trickle charge. Repeated fast charging will reduce the capacity of the battery.
Precautions
- Use a battery tester to determine when 12V batteries need to be recharged.
- Use a 2 amp or smaller slow trickle charger or battery tender to recharge.
- Draining the battery to below 50% may damage the battery and shorten its lifespan.
Warranty
Note: 12V SLA batteries are a rechargeable battery that if not properly and frequently recharged with a solar panel or trickle charger may result in premature degradation or failure. Proper maintenance is a requirement for these batteries to function as intended/advertised.

Bought a 12-volt, 15Ah replacement battery for a solar electric fence. The change-out was easy, and the unit is back online. Quality product, purpose-built.

I have been using my fence and energizer for 5+ years and needed to replace the positive and negative cables after my husband chewed them up with the weed eater. Just went ahead and replaced the battery too. This fencing and energizer have worked very well to keep my 2 mini donkeys contained.

The battery needed to be replaced in the charger for our electric fence. I easily removed old one and replaced with a new one. All good!

I purchased this battery for my solar charger and fence (both supplied by Premier 1). I was disappointed when it stopped holding a charge after a few weeks. When I contacted them about a battery replacement I was told that they don’t guarantee batteries over 30 days because they are so easily damaged. Be aware that using this battery as directed with a Premier solar charger and electric fence will “damage” this battery and they will not assist you in getting a replacement.

Premier 1 has been very good to work with. I have had to rework some solar fence chargers and they provided me the expertise I needed to determine what I needed and then the technicians were great at taking my order and getting them shipped to me in a timely manner. It would take a much longer explanation to include all the positive experiences I had with them. It is just great to work with a company who takes care of your needs!
