SmoothCote™ FiberRod Posts (1/2" dia)
Product Details
Built for strength and durability, these UV-resistant fiberglass posts feature a smooth, splinter-free polyester coating. Ideal for livestock grazing systems, the thicker 1/2" diameter provides greater rigidity—making them a better choice than 3/8" posts for curves and uneven terrain.
Perfect for electric fencing in both permanent and temporary setups. Also useful in horticulture as support stakes for plants and young trees.

Everyone is pretty much aware that quite often something that we accidentally find proves to be just the ticket for some other purpose other than its intended use. These posts fit the job nicely of protecting Purple Martin “hotels” by deterring winged predators from preying on the birds.

We tried these FiberRods a year ago because we got nervous about a post left in the field damaging a combine. They are a little more demanding when driving in, but hold the wire up nice while still flexing when a deer hits it and they don't short out if an insulator gets knocked off. You can also carry more at a time because they are lighter than metal, and they don't pull out easily. I just bought 400 more. My complaint was the metal clips, but this year I discovered Premier 1 has the perfect plastic insulator to go with them.
