*Number Fed is determined by capacity multiplied by 4 oz (amount of feed the average adult chicken eats per day). Crumbles, wheat, barley and cracked corn can be used in these feeders.
- We have noticed that our chickens use it as both a feeder and a source of entertainment.
- Spiral can be attached permanently to bucket.
- Bucket acts as a feed reservoir.
- Spiral is refilled as feed is dispensed.

Fabulous! Keeps the feed off the ground, covered and protected from poop and debris. I bought my own metal bucket with a lock-on lid system, and drilled a hole with a circle drill bit. Then I Gorilla-glued the spiral feeder into the bucket and VOILA! So very pleased with this product, and with literally everything I have ever purchased from Premier.

I was excited for this feeder as wasting feed is always a concern. First, we connected it to a flat bottom 5 gallon pail and the first issue was the feed was not moving down into the spiral feeder. So, as we would move the feed down manually it would just fall out into the ground. This was with crumble as recommended. We are planning in trying pellets but we have a few bags of crumble to use up first. The second problem was that not enough feed would fall out and the the hens ended up being hungry. I like to see them all happy to see me at the gate but not because they are hungry. We are still in the progress of trying it out but it was not as easy as excepted, we need to try the pellets and figure out a funnel to keep the feed moving down.

I've been keeping a small flock of bantams for most of my life and am now 55 years old. I have always been battling feed waste. This little spiral feeders has lowered feed consumption by about 40 percent. No waste feed for rodents and same fat happy hens. Just put a domed lid on the bucket and it will be perfect
