How to Use
Shepherd’s Choice® Management Tip
After 2 months of age for lambs or 3 months of age for goat kids, switch to normal grower/finisher ration. Keep feed fresh by only offering very small amounts early on. Provide a constant supply of clean, fresh water.Precautions
CAUTION: Feed Lamb Starter only to lambs and Kid Starter only to goat kids. DO NOT feed Kid Starter to lambs (contains toxic copper quantities to lambs).
CAUTION: Use as directed. This product has been formulated specifically for the target species (either lambs or goat kids) and is not intended for other species. Follow label directions. Feeding this feed containing added selenium at levels higher than recommended is not permitted. DO NOT feed to lactating ewes/goats.
Lambs and kids do not have fully functioning rumens until at least 30 days of age so the use of hay pre-weaning should be limited to very high quality hay and maybe only the last week before weaning. Once lambs/kids are eating .15 pounds of dry feed per day they can be weaned completely from milk replacer to dry feed only. Abrupt weaning is the best method of weaning off milk replacer. Continue limiting the amount of hay to .1 pound per head per day. Animals may go backwards for a day or two but will quickly recover and by normal weaning age for the operation, should be as big or bigger than their herd mates raised by ewes/does.
WARNING: DO NOT FEED TO SHEEP/GOATS PRODUCING MILK FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION.

Excellent starter feed for lambs, especially orphaned lambs.
Erica L from Virginia
We ordered the Shepherd’s Choice Goat Starter for a doe kid we had shipped in from the west coast. She arrived at one month of age and refused to take a bottle, which is much too young to self-wean. We were concerned about her rate of growth as a result and were relieved to find a product with dried milk as an ingredient to help offset what she would have consumed from a bottle. This product has kept her on par with our other similarly-aged kids that were either dam raised or also on a bottle. The small pellets are easy to convince even a relatively young kid to consume and she went for them whole-heartedly.
Mike G from Texas
We will be weaning a bottle fed goat kid soon and wanted to transition her to pellets. She took to the Kid Starter immediately and runs out to meet us at the gate.

My baby goats love this!
Frank V from Iowa
Expensive on a per pound basis, but the small size pellets helps get lambs started. Lambs cannot sort, which is a problem for me when I use my grind and mix feed. Great customer service and delivery.
