Ducks don't make much of a mess with this waterer. Put the rubber stopper from the inside out and they cant knock it loose. The plastic connector for the float was useless the connection provided couldn't get it to stop leaking. Reality is I have 7 ducks using they make it so muddy I dump it out daily. I used a 10 gallon water device and it was empty the next morning. This thing had plenty of water in it the next day. I do not use a water line, just fill it up.

We bought 2 of these. We have 150 ducks and needed an efficient watering system. These NEVER stopped leaking. We called the company who showed us how to adjust the level and THEY NEVER STOPPED LEAKING. If you are in an area where you don't have an unlimited water source, I suggest you not buy this.

So far, so good. I almost didn’t get this because of the price and because I won’t be able to use it here in Maine year-round, but I’m glad I did. It’s perfect for ducks and made specifically for them, unlike other poultry drinkers that are more for chickens. I did have to give it a very good rinse when I first got it, due to lots of little pieces of plastic inside, but it has been working very well and making mine and my quackers lives a little easier.

I've tried. almost every poultry waterer and they all dripped and leaked. So far this one is water tight and keeping the hens watered with no mess. It's built very sturdy and looks to be easy to clean. I used teflon tape judiciously when assembling and have no leaks.

Leaks.
We have tried white plumbing tape and plumber's paste and have come to believe that it is leaking from where the brass connects to the plastic, not from the hose connection. It doesn't handle the pressure of the water from our hydrant which varies in strength. The feet are unusually difficult to attach also.
A positive: The ducks took to it right away. We can't really use it in their run though as that area is already at max for the water mess it can handle and it seriously shoots water non-stop when it is not being released via filling the reservoir.
We're going to try using it on pasture, but with limited water, that may not work out either. It's a smart size and design that is not quite achieving what it was designed to do.
