★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (9) Read reviews »

A feed additive to control the spread of parasitic larvae in the pasture. BioWorma® is a naturally occurring fungus that captures and consumes infective worm larvae (including chemical and anthelmintic resistant larvae) within the manure of grazing animals. BioWorma® is effective when fed to sheep, goats, cattle, horses and others—including deer, alpacas and zoo animals.

Use by mixing into feed, feed supplements, premixes or concentrates.

Note: BioWorma® consumes larvae from the pasture, reducing the possibility of reinfection. It does not eliminate parasites present in the animal. Animals need to be treated with a dewormer/anthelmintic to remove the internal parasites.

SHIPS FREE via Ground Service for orders over $100, unless otherwise indicated. Truckload pricing (10 pails or more) is available by request. Please contact us online or call 800-282-6631 for a quotation.

Benefits

Break the worm cycle!

BioWorma® contains the natural fungus Duddingtonia flagrans. When fed to grazing animals the thick walled spores pass through the digestive system remaining inert (having no effect within the host animal) and out into the manure. When the infective nematode/roundworm larvae become active within the manure, the fungus sporulates forming a fungal web that captures, paralyses and consumes infective larvae. As a result, the worm cycle is effectively broken.

Duddingtonia flagrans reduces the number of gastrointestinal nematodes (GIN) larvae on pasture, which is significantly greater than a chemical wormer can do within the animal. Overall averages below:

68% – SHEEP | 86% – GOATS | 81% – CATTLE | 84% – HORSES

Common Questions

If I feed BioWorma® for 3 months will it establish on my farm?
No. Once the fungus has consumed the larvae in the manure it will die.
Is BioWorma® affected by seasonal change?
BioWorma® is recommended for strategic use during periods when weather conditions are conducive to larval development and transmission onto pasture at temperatures above 40°F (5°C).
Does it affect dung beetles or earthworms?
There are no negative effects on non-target soil nematodes, earthworms, microarthropods, soil bacteria and fungi. Beneficial insects feeding or breeding on manure (e.g. dung beetles, fly larvae) are not negatively affected.
Can I feed it to pregnant ewes?
There are no precautions for feeding to pregnant animals.
What's the difference between BioWorma® and Livamol® with BioWorma®?
BioWorma® is a concentrated feed additive that is mixed into the feed (or other supplements). Livamol® with BioWorma® is a feed supplement premixed with BioWorma® and top dressed over the animals' feed.

Tips

  1. Treat animals with a suitable oral, injectable, or pour-on wormer/anthelmintic to rid the animals of worms, then begin administration of BioWorma®.
  2. Move the treated animals onto low worm pasture (that is, pasture that has not been grazed by the same animal species for a minimum of 6 weeks).
  3. The most worm-susceptible are young animals (from 3 months up to 18-24 months of age) and periparturient females (last month of pregnancy and while producing milk) as they are the most likely to have less resistance to worm infestation due to low immunity. Do not underestimate pasture contamination by adult stock, even animals with low fecal egg counts (FECs), considering the volume of fecal material adult stock place on pasture.
  4. Thoroughly mix the BioWorma® with feed, feed supplements, premixes or concentrates, and commence daily administration of the resultant mixture to minimize pasture infectivity and maintain the low worm status of the animals.
  5. BioWorma® will begin to work within the first day and may be fed continuously when warm, moist climatic conditions are conducive to parasitic nematode activity.
  6. BioWorma® is for use during periods when conditions are conducive to larval development and transmission onto pasture at temperatures above 40°F (5°C).
  7. Use BioWorma® in conjunction with the specified worm management strategy for your area by contacting your Veterinarian, Animal Health Advisor or Government Advisory groups for a strategic Integrated Parasite Management (IPM) plan. It is important to consider the principles of refugia.
  8. Periodically check the worm burden and monitor the effectiveness of the worm management system. Options include fecal egg counts (FECs), the fecal egg count reduction test (FECRT) and/or identifying worm species by using fecal larval cultures (FLCs). Re-treatment with an effective chemical wormer may be indicated (consult your Veterinarian).

BioWorma is a life saver for horses that are living in warm climate and have worms problems. My horse been struggling with respiratory problems caused by Threadworms and there was really no hope until I started him on this supplement. He is doing so much better now and with combination of deworming rotation his breathing is almost back to normal.

Thank you Premier 1 for having this product in stock. Shipping is always fast.

We have only been using BioWorma for 3 months but have definitely noticed a difference in our Nubian herd’s health. Our worm loads are down and therefore we aren’t having to worm as often. The herd is gaining a significant amount of weight, shinny coat, and overall they look great. We plan to use it again next year.

I had a terrible year 2023 with Barberpole worms in my goat/sheep herd. I started using BioWorma in the fall after suffering terrible losses and extreme hospitalization bills. The cost may seem prohibitive to some, but the benefits so far are well worth it. Going into 2024, I will continue to use this product with the prayers that it will solve this problem for my herd. I highly recommend this product to everyone. NC State Vet School is watching how it effects my herd and hopefully will recommend it further for those in their care. They are evaluating my herd again in 2 weeks.

Bioworma helps keeping pastures free of Haemoncus Tortuous [Barber Pole]. It is far from being the perfect remedy, but it is the best we have at this point. It is a shame that it is so expensive. The product has to be used as part of an overall pasture management, including strong rotational grazing.

About Conductivity

Conductivity measures the amount of electrical current a material can carry. The opposite measure is known as resistance.

Tinned Copper Superconductor

Many of Premier’s electric net fences feature a green and white superconductor that has both stainless steel and tinned copper filaments for optimal conductivity.

These “premium” nets are 10 times more conductive (38 ohms per 1000') than “basic” nets offered by our competitors. This enables the electric pulse to travel much farther and be less affected by weed contact.

Customers who are unhappy with netting are often those who’ve chosen nets from China or their farmstore equivalents.

Types of Line Posts

Line posts are built into the net. Three options are available.*

Line Posts Compared
  1. Single Spike (SS)
The best choice, unless your soils are always soft or very hard.
  2. Double Spike (DS)
Posts allow you to push in the spikes with your foot. When soil is hard or rocky, double spikes are more difficult to install and remove.
  3. Drivable Posts (DP)
Allows use of a mallet or dead blow hammer for installing posts in dry, hard or rocky soil. Features a “spike stop” for extra support and internal fiberglass ribs for added strength.

Tip: To insert a line post into frozen or hard soil, use a power tool to drill pilot holes.

* Not all fences have all line post options.

About Positive/Negative (Pos/Neg) Nets

Is your area dry?

Conventional electrified fence systems rely on soil moisture to be effective. However, not all areas have the required moisture.

Dry soil increases resistance—a weaker, less effective pulse occurs that does not deter animals.

To overcome this, Pos/Neg nets* are wired to allow the use of every other horizontal strand as an extension of the ground terminal. Because half the strands are connected to the ground terminal or ground rod, reliance on soil moisture is reduced. A PowerLink must be purchased separately to make the secondary ground connection.

How it works…

In order to receive a shock, the animal must touch both a positive (hot) and negative (grounded) strand at the same time. This will deliver more pain to the animal than an all hot net (Pos/Pos) because moisture in the soil is not required to complete the circuit.

Pos/Neg fences can be converted to Pos/Pos in moist conditions. Remember, all fences must be kept free of vegetation.

* Not all fences have Pos/Neg options.

Line Post Spacing

“Plus” nets—6'8" spacings between built-in line posts*

Line Post Spacing

Standard nets—10' or 12' spacings between built-in line posts*

* Spacings are approximate.
Distance between built-in line posts may vary by product.

Essential Energizer Advice

  • Buy a larger energizer than necessary. When the fence pleases, most folks will buy more fence—and need additional output.
  • Use a low-impedance intermittent pulse energizer.
  • Use a fence tester to check the voltage often.
  • Use enough ground rod(s)—included with our energizer kits.
  • Don’t allow your lead acid battery to discharge below 40%.
  • Use insulated wire that is designed for electric fences.
  • Always connect the fence to an energizer, not an outlet.
  • Visit this link for answers to other common energizer questions.

Two Basic Types

  1. All-in-one Solar
    • Solar units are very portable.
    • Because they need a battery, these units are more costly to purchase and operate than plug-in units.
    • Batteries are less effective in cold temperatures (deplete faster).
    • Most farmstore solar units are too weak, in joules of output, to properly energize netting. That’s why we designed our own.
  2. Plug-in & Battery
    • Least cost to purchase and operate per joule of output.
    • Best for fences exposed to heavy vegetation.
    • Cold temperatures do not affect performance.
    • Recommended for whole-farm systems, but can be complex to install. Higher output requires more ground rods, underground cables, multiple output terminals, etc.

Braided vs. Twisted

Braiding instead of twisting the horizontals increases the frequency of metal filaments on the outside of the strand.

Braided vs. Twisted Electric Net Fences

What’s the benefit?

  1. More metal is exposed on the outside of the strand. This enables improved animal to conductor contact. The electric pulse is better able to travel from the fence and into the animal, resulting in a memorable shock.
  2. A tighter, braided weave results in fewer snags when carried or pulled through pastures, reducing frustration.
