I wish that I had purchased this comb lifter years ago! I have a small flock of Suffolk sheep and have a tendency of nicking them quite often while shearing. I wasn’t so sure that this was going to work on a Suffolk because another review didn’t have the best luck, but I sheared all 14 with no nicks at all and it seemed to take less time to shear. Win Win!

I certainly like the idea of this product! Unfortunately, I have not had success using the comb lifter.
I find striving to reach the product's full potential is unreasonably time consuming, and ultimately disappointing. The sheep have uneven staple lengths at the end, and the harvested wool is full of second cuts. If the shearer tips their blades towards the sheep at any time, they will achieve the same results as if the comb lifter were not attached at all.
Perhaps using the comb lifter on camelids and hair sheep would yield more positive results. However, having sheared with the product on Suffolk, Dorset and Hampshire fleeces, I would not recommend this purchase.

I didn't have a lot of experience sheering so I added this as my 'training wheels' in order to lessen the possibility of nicking the animal.

This really helped us feel more comfortable shearing when we started, and made it easier to leave a uniform layer of extra wool when shearing in NY winter.

Absolutely worked as needed to leave some hair on the hair sheep to protect them from our south Texas sun. Took some practice (that first sheep looked pretty bad!) to get the hang of clipping with this attachment but after the first one, everything went very smoothly and the product did exactly what it said it would do.
