Deluxe Marking Harness
Product Details
An essential tool for tracking breeding activity. The Deluxe Marking Harness is designed to reduce chafing behind the front legs and is built tough—even for heavy rams and bucks.
It’s a world-class breeding harness because:
- Wider 2" nylon straps — Distribute pressure evenly and are easier to locate and adjust in deep wool or fiber.
- Unique padded (0.2" thick) straps — Positioned behind the front legs to help prevent skin abrasion.
- Oversized snap buckles and metal loops — Stronger connection points that are easy to use, even with gloves.
- Padded crayon holder — Secures marking crayons (sold separately) for consistent breeding marks.

How To Use
Tips
- More likely to stay on if the ram’s brisket has at least 2 months’ wool growth.
- Adjust frequently, as rams and bucks often lose weight during breeding season.
- If the forelegs start to chafe, adjust the harness or add padding or covering.
- The crayon fits on the brisket, between the forelegs.
- Best practice: Put the harness on a few days before introducing the ram to the ewes. This allows the harness to settle and time for adjustments.

It sounds like it would be great if I could figure out how to put it on!

Have lots of experience. The easiest to put on. Will have to see about whether it lasts more than a season

We recently upgraded to the deluxe marking harness for our bucks, I really like the thick straps and big clips. Putting it on is very easy to put on and once it is adjusted it stays in place until you remove it.

Love this new breeding harness, easy to put on and adjust.

We have Dorper hair sheep that are slightly smaller framed than wool sheep. The harness was very adjustable to fit snug on ram. A huge plus that the Harness came with a picture of it on a ram as well as it laid out flat, helping to see how it buckles on, as it can be confusing with all the straps and buckles. Currently using with cold weather marker and is doing a good job marking.
