Drive Caps for SmoothCote™ FiberRod
Use a drive caps to protect the top of the FiberRod from splintering when driving them in the ground.
Drive caps are compatible with these posts:
One drive cap lasts through years of uses and many posts. We recommend approximately one cap for every 20 posts ordered.
Specs
- 2" long
- Nylon plastic
- 20 per package, but sold individually
Installation
- Place the drive cap on top of FiberRod
- Drive into the ground with a rubber mallet or steel hammer
- Take the drive cap off of the FiberRod and continue with additional posts
Precautions
We do not recommend leaving drive caps on the top of posts.

These are a must-have for installing fiberglass fence posts. They protect the end of the fiberglass rod from hammer blows. Make sure that you get multiples of this cap. Depending upon how hard or rocky your soil is, they can wear out pretty quickly. I started to see the cap breaking down after installing 30 fiberglass rods.

These do what they’re suppose to. I do wish Premier made rubbery ones instead of the hard plastic. Kencove has a rubber model that’s nicer to use when driving fiber posts.

I love these drive caps but they just don’t last. The top cracks in less than a week of daily use and then just breaks off. The are just not durable enough for daily use.

The cap is handy if soil is firm, it is simple to use; place it on the post and tap. Around my orchard the soil is usually soft enough to just push the post in a few inches, but I also carry a cap and have a small hammer nearby for the hard spots.
