Drive Caps for SmoothCote™ FiberRod
Use a drive caps to protect the top of the FiberRod from splintering when driving them in the ground.
Drive caps are compatible with these posts:
One drive cap lasts through years of uses and many posts. We recommend approximately one cap for every 20 posts ordered.
Specs
- 2" long
- Nylon plastic
- 20 per package, but sold individually
Installation
- Place the drive cap on top of FiberRod
- Drive into the ground with a rubber mallet or steel hammer
- Take the drive cap off of the FiberRod and continue with additional posts
Precautions
We do not recommend leaving drive caps on the top of posts.

Driving cap is fine if you only have one post to drive but it is not strong enough for multiple posts. I drove one post into sand, about 24" deep and had to hammer the cap off of the end of the post. It will not come off of the second post. It is better than having a splintered post but order one for each post you’re driving. I only purchased one cap for 10 posts. Reordering more to complete the job.

Very handy. Preference for high visibility color instead of black which could be spotted in the field. I taped mine to be able to more easily spot.

Excellent for driving the temporary posts into the ground. However, I purchased one for each post but learned they did not fit the 11/16" posts snuggly so I really only needed one or two to accomplish the task at hand.

These have worked great for preserving my fiberglass posts. My only gripe is sometimes they get stuck on the post after you’re done hammering. So far I’ve been able to just give them a twist and they come loose but I have spares in case one gets stuck on there for good. Still, a must have if you’re using fiberglass temporary posts.
