ElectroNet® with PrimaPosts™ 9/35/12
New! A prefabricated electric fence that has 9 horizontal strands (8 conductive), is 35" tall installed and has vertical struts every 12". PrimaPosts™ are built into the mesh every 12.6 ft.
When properly energized, 35" tall ElectroNet® with PrimaPosts™ is a nearly impenetrable mesh to sheep, goats, coyotes and dogs.
Why PrimaPosts?
- Stiffer—advanced fiberglass composite for increased strength and rigidity
- Weighs less per ft—posts are smaller in diameter vs. PVC posts of similar stiffness (13mm vs. 19mm); this enables longer sections (164' vs. 100') without additional weight
Which ElectroNet® is right for you?
We offer many fences to fit your situation, including multiple lengths with different post spacings, drivable line posts and positive/negative options for dry soils. Visit this link to compare all ElectroNet options.Benefits
Its very low electrical resistance (38 ohms per 1000') is important for fences that are either long or will experience high weed contact.
ElectroNet® with PrimaPosts™ is available in (2) colors:
- Green & White — Item #208449
- Blends well with a green-grass background while offering good visibility to humans and animals.
- Blue & White — Item #208452
- 4-legged animals generally have poor color vision, but see shades of blue clearly. Because blue is an unusual color when seen on the ground, curious livestock (and their predators) check the fence with their sensitive noses. The result is a memorable electric shock. Animals conclude the fence itself is painful—and learn to avoid it.
Common Uses
- Contain sheep, goats and cattle and keep out predators such as coyotes, dogs and bears
- Enclose rams and buck goats
- Make small pastures for animals that need special attention (ewes/does/nannies with triplets; injured or stressed animals)
- Effective for beehive protection to keep out livestock and bears
- Strip grazing pastures, orchards, vineyards and stockpiled forages
- Wildfire mitigation (managed grazing)
- As an interim fence until a more permanent fence can be built
- Installing water gaps that work
- Making lanes for moving animals
- Protecting outdoor hay supplies

Installation
Ensure the net is at least 2" away from anything metal (e.g. T-posts, existing wire fences, spikes on support posts, etc.)
See PDFs and videos above for additional installation instructions.
Precautions
Netting must be moved when tall grass covers the lower “hot” strands. The alternative? Apply a strip of herbicide to kill vegetation.
Warning! Due to risk of fire, do NOT use continuous output energizers with electric netting or electro-plastic conductors such as rope, twine or tape. Use only with a low or wide impedance intermittent pulse energizer. (Fi-Shock™ brand energizers which are sold as low impedance, continuous current output should NOT be used with electric netting.) All energizers sold on Premier’s website use an intermittent pulse and are suitable for use with electric netting.
Dry conditions and wintertime usage may reduce the effectiveness of electric fencing. Ice and heavy snow can flatten netting and thereby damage it.
Dry or frozen ground may cause posts to bend or break if inserted with force. Pilot holes may be needed when using PrimaPosts™ in hard soil. We recommend using drivable or single spike posts in hard soils. Double spike posts provide more stability when the ground is soft.
Troubleshooting
If possible, separate the fence into sections. Then progressively reconnect, checking voltage as you go. When the voltage drops, you’ve identified the section with the problem. Listen for snapping sounds. This occurs when a conductor is close to a grounded wire, metal objects, fallen branches, or other green vegetation causing a “short”. Shorts cause fence voltage to collapse and allow animals to touch the fence without feeling pain.

Just got a roll to try out the new post option and was happy with how much lighter the posts are. It makes it a bit easier to carry the gathered up net. They seem sturdy enough to hold up. The metal clips are put on opposite compared to the other ElectroNets... it took an extra twist to connect them to my older nets.

I have tried many of the different post/fencing combos carried by Premier 1, and I think this is the best combo. It is lightweight enough that I can carry and lay out without too much trouble, but the posts are sturdy enough not to bend too much and can handle rocky dry soils. I actually look forward to putting this particular fence up (well, no one looks forward to putting out electric netting, but I don't dread it!) I'll be buying the PrimaPosts going forward.

Much prefer these over the “regular” ElectroNet posts especially when the soil is hard. I only wish they weren’t black because they are hard to see sometimes when on the ground.

Premier seems to have a “winner” here. They have “fixed” most of the problems inherent in the most frustrating fencing product ever invented—electric netting. This is hands down the best I’ve ever used. There are NO extra spikes, clips, or other things to cause extra tangles. It is lightweight and easy for one person to quickly set up, take down, or move.
The “driveable post” type is great too, but the posts are much bigger and heavier, making it harder to hold the entire net in one hand, which is what you really want to do when taking it down to move it to a new location. But if you really need hammer-driveable posts, that product is just as good as this one—just bulkier.
I can get (2) 77-foot lengths out of one 164-foot roll of this. Note, Premier does NOT recommend cutting netting fences to length. Neither can I recommend it, but my grazing corridors are 75-feet wide. I do what is necessary. I have learned to take my time and duplicate the factory end as closely as possible in the field. Once I learned to do this, the result is a fence that works just as well as a new one.
Jolene S from Pennsylvania
Love this fence for my goats! I was skeptical about using it. But we trained them all with a little zap and they completely respect it. It’s easy to move and handle. I will definitely be buying more. This is already my second purchase.
