How to Use
Set the waterer so the nipples are just above head height—the birds should stretch up slightly to drink.
Handle is used to carry the bucket (unplugged) to and from a hydrant for filling. Some may find the bucket handle fits too loosely underneath the lid. For a better fit, gently squeeze the top of the bucket inward while attaching the lid. The lid will snap into place over the handle.
Chickens will take to the nipple drinkers more readily when there is no other water source available. We recommend removing your current waterer and placing the new waterer in the same location. Then, bring a bird’s beak directly to the nipple drinker and flick/activate the nipple to demonstrate the new water source.

I have had no problem with the top but, you do have to make sure it is attached properly. I thought it was a little expense but considering the long shielded cord that is attached and the quality of the product as well as having clean water all the time for my chickens it is well worth the cost and it saves me time.

The waterer is made of heavy materials and heats well. The bucket has a handle but is not usable for hanging because the lid fits over the handle. I cut two small notches and now it hangs with the lid on.

Nice idea and product. But the lid doesn't securely fastened. It just sits on top of the bucket. Also wish the cord was longer.

Water stays nice and clean. Doesn't freeze. Easy to fill.

I love this heated waterer, but I gave it 4 out of 5 stars do to how the top locks on. It would be better to have the lid actually go over the edge of the bucket instead of it barely locking on the steel handle edge. It doesn't take much to knock it off. Maybe a loose fit twist and lock design for the top and you would have 5 stars across the board. I love the low wattage use, all others that I could find were around 250 watts. I'm not looking to heat the water to steam, just keep it from freezing and this waterer does it nicely.
