Product Details
Marking crayons make highly visible marks on ewes (or does) to let the shepherd quickly know which animals have been bred (and which haven’t). Record the ear tag number and date for an estimated lambing/kidding date.

How To Use
- Remove cotter pin
- Remove plastic cover
- Place narrow end of crayon (plastic side down) in wide part of holder
- Gently slide up until it can go no further
- Slide cotter pin through holes on side of holder and crayon
- With needle nose pliers, bend end of cotter pin to lock in place
Common Questions
- Why so many harness crayon choices?
- The reviews have been mixed on Premier’s EZ-Mark® Crayons so we brought in harness crayons from a reputable UK manufacturer as an alternative. When marketed in Europe, NETTEX crayons are available only as “all-weather”. But for the US market where the weather can fluctuate between extremes, they’ve introduced COLD/SOFT and HOT/FIRM options.
For folks familiar with Premier’s EZ-Mark crayons, NETTEX all-weather crayons will offer similar performance in mild temperatures (40–80°F).
Precautions
- The shade of the marks on wool may not exactly match the crayon color.
- Store in a dry, cool place to prevent crayons from melting.
- Always check the ram every day to see if the crayon needs changing or the harness needs adjusting!

I’m both a dealer and a producer. We never had a problem until the last 3 seasons. We just started breeding and the blocks aren’t even lasting 24 hours. They just fall off the plastic backer. When I called and talked to the product manager last year he was a jerk about and completely unhelpful. Told me if there was a problem they would know. Well the dozens of customers bringing them back to my store all say different. Total junk and they refuse to stand behind them. Same issues 3 years in a row.

Put harnesses on two bucks and turned them out with the does. By day two, all the marking paint was gone before any of the does cycled. It was installed correctly and the block is still attached to the harness. The marker solution just slowly disintegrated? Zero does have been marked. I am very disappointed in this marker. However, the harness has been as advertised and stays on securely.

If I could give no stars I would. I have the hot weather crayons. I bought 18 of them for our various ram harnesses. They don’t last at all — maybe 24 hours. Very disappointed.

Do not purchase these. They will not last. Not sure what the deal was at first, I have gone through 4 in 2 days. The chalk just keeps falling off, at first I thought I had gotten duds but after replacing them with new ones they still fell off. I tried a different brand and the job got done. Stay away from these!
