A lightweight, non-electrified net enclosure for chickens and other poultry. Best when used as a monitored day pen for adult birds and chicks. Allows you to move your flock to fresh grass quickly and easily. Features a built-in step-through gate.
Because this fence cannot be electrified, we recommend that you move your birds to a safe, secure location at night. NoShock™ Hen Pen will NOT stop predators.

- Lower 16" of netting has small 1.75" spacings to reduce the likelihood of chicks escaping the paddock (compared to 2"x3" spacings on electrifiable PoultryNet)

How to Install
Installation Tips
- Before installing line posts, stretch the net out in an open area. For best results, ensure posts are woven through the mesh using the same vertical columns.
- The white post caps come detached to allow you to easily weave the line posts into the net without snagging. If desired, an acrylic adhesive can be used to permanently secure them to the post.
- Many find building a circular pen easier than creating a square or rectangular space. Why? Because measured post spacings are not as critical. To begin, secure the first and last post together. Then create a small circular enclosure with the remaining posts. Progressively expand the circular area outward to add tension. For more support when using a circular enclosure, position the posts so the double-spike faces inward.
- When moving the pen, or for storage, walk along the fence, removing the posts from the soil and holding them in your hand in a tidy bundle. This allows the loose netting to fold together into pleats. After all posts have been collected, lay the netting onto the ground and roll up the folds towards the bundle of posts. (This “fold and then roll” process is very similar to our electrifiable nets.)

Precautions
For flighty birds, clip their flight feathers on one wing to prevent escape.
Rabbits, chipmunks, mice and other small critters may chew through the nonelectrified strings of the HenPen causing damage to the fence.

This is my first purchase of a netting style fence and I was, initially, excited to finally have a need for one. Receiving and setting up the fence revealed some disappointment though, and some really basic, common sense adjustments that could be made to improve the setup and use.
First, I purchased the 39 foot version because the 60 foot was sold out. The 39 foot fencing shipped with 6 posts, 1 gate post, about 12 stakes and 5 guy lines. Now... the instructions to erect the fence were to weave the gate post through at one end of the fence, then measure 2.5 feet and install the first bracing post that would reinforce the gate post.
After that, you're supposed to weave the corner posts through in their respective locations then, with the remaining post(s); weave them between the corners with no less than 6.5 feet between each post.
It's that last bit that became a problem... the 6-1/2 feet minimum between posts. A 39 foot long fence divided by 6.5 is just a tick over 6 posts. In order to get even tension along the fence line; this fence really needs 7 posts with the gate post. Weaving each post from the tighter weave at the bottom of the fencing is not exactly intuitive to ensure everything is lined up correctly and tensioned evenly once it all comes together. We had to re-lace at least 4 posts and move them around to find a working solution for the location of the fence. The guy lines help a lot, but I had to DIY a 7th post out of PVC to prevent the fence from sagging too much where I had a longer span than 6.5 feet between the last corner post and the gate. When I went to purchase an additional post... back-ordered. Like most things Premier 1 sells; better grab it while it's in stock or you'll be waiting a LOOONG time.

Love this pen, super easy to use and works great for a day pen for young birds and breed pen for adults. A few small standard chicks and bantam chicks are able to hop through the top holes but I use this on the inside of my electric Premier 1 poultry net so no one strays far.

We have had this fence for a year now. It is very disappointing compared to the four other Premier poultry nets we have and with having multiple issues and I wish we had saved our money and not bought it.
- Chicks can slip through the smaller holes until they are about 3 weeks of age. Last year we had a two week old broiler chick get caught in the small holes and later die.
- If your ground is not perfectly flat you must use the stakes to pin it to the ground, but don’t use your foot because the stakes will bend. And then you have to take out all the stakes to move the fence.
- As other reviews have mentioned if you do not have the fence perfectly taught the chicks can just jump out the the larger holes. Our current layer chicks are 6 weeks old and have figured out how to jump out the bigger holes.

Do not buy if you are expecting the normal level of Premier 1 quality. Does not come assembled, very easy to tangle compared to other Premier 1 fence. Flimsy and cheap feeling, but not cheap price. Struggling to keep enough tension across top and bottom to keep chicks in. Even if I can get it all situated for a moment, chicks can hop up to bigger holes and escape. We had to put plywood scraps all around bottom to keep chicks in. The worst! Do NOT buy!

Easy, convenient little movable pen. It threw me off at first because I'd expected it to come pre-assembled like the regular poultry netting, but once I read the instructions it was actually super quick and easy to set up. It's definitely not as strong as the regular poultry netting, but most of my adult birds are already trained to respect fencing so they seem to be pretty respectful of this as well even though it's not electrifiable. Should be perfect to make a movable enclosure inside the larger moving chicken yard so I can introduce mama hens and their broods back into the flock when the chicks are old enough.
