PermaNet® 10/48/6 Electric Netting
Product Details

Use PermaNet® for sites that have installation problems for permanent wire fences (hills, rocks, curves, trees, no machine access). It keeps sheep and goats in and predators out. Can stop a wide range of animals.
How does it compare to our temporary nets (ElectroNet® and ElectroStop®, etc?)
- It’s taller, 48"—therefore more reliable.
- Designed to be left in one place for months or years. For this it has stronger, heavier, larger PVC posts with longer, thicker, steel spikes. The result is better support through wind, rain, ice and snow.
- It’s a very good conductor (low electrical resistance). This is critical as weed contact may become heavy.
- Supplied in many lengths—to enable users to buy the right length for each situation.
Benefits
Common Uses

* Pos/Neg (PN) fences are recommended where the soil is very dry and/or the animals do not ground well. Two clips are used at each end. One is hooked to the energizer, the second should be connected to a ground rod.
Installation
Tip: When using Pos/Neg fencing, a PowerLink (see Accessories) is recommended to attach the negative lead to the ground rod.
See PDFs and videos above for additional installation instructions.
Common Questions
- Will PermaNet® 10/48/6 contain poultry?
- No. Because of the 6" wide spacings, this PermaNet® will NOT contain chickens. For chickens, we recommend 42" or 48" tall electric netting with 3" wide spacings.
- How easy is PermaNet® to install?
- We suggest installing PermaNet® with two people. Why? Because of its extra weight and longer posts.
It can be handled, installed and removed by one person, but having another person on each end of the posts doubles the productivity and makes it easier for both.
Pushing or stepping posts into the soil is still a one-person task. And so is pulling the posts out of the soil. But these tasks take more effort because the spikes are both larger and longer. (After all, it doesn’t work to have a strong, well-supported post without large and long spikes.)
Precautions
Netting must be moved when tall grass covers the lower “hot” strands. The alternative? Apply a strip of herbicide to kill vegetation.
Warning! Due to risk of fire, do NOT use continuous output energizers with electric netting or electro-plastic conductors such as rope, twine or tape. Use only with a low or wide impedance intermittent pulse energizer. (Fi-Shock™ brand energizers which are sold as low impedance, continuous current output should NOT be used with electric netting.) All energizers sold on Premier’s website use an intermittent pulse and are suitable for use with electric netting.
Dry conditions and wintertime usage may reduce the effectiveness of electric fencing. Ice and heavy snow can flatten netting and thereby damage it.
Dry or frozen ground may cause posts to bend or break if inserted with force. Pilot holes may be needed. We recommend using drivable or single spike posts in hard soils. Double spike posts provide more stability when the ground is soft.
Troubleshooting
If possible, separate the fence into sections. Then progressively reconnect, checking voltage as you go. When the voltage drops, you’ve identified the section with the problem. Listen for snapping sounds. This occurs when a conductor is close to a grounded wire, metal objects, fallen branches, or other green vegetation causing a “short”. Shorts cause fence voltage to collapse and allow animals to touch the fence without feeling pain.

We are thoroughly pleased with our purchase of the PermaNet Fencing. It allowed us to secure our sheep while permanent perimiter fencing was being installed. It has also enabled us to rotate pastures, easily moving the fence when necessary. The double stakes are great for our windy changeable weather. Your staff was very helpfull in recommending the right fence and charger for our farm. Thank you for great service and a great product.

We have been using the 150' rolls of this fencing for our goats, but in our thick brush and forest, it's hard to gather it up or distribute it without repeatedly snagging on branches or picking up loose sticks. When you are working alone, this is really frustrating. So this time we bought the 50' rolls for ease in handling! Also, when some accident happens (usually involving horses on the other side of the fence), we think shorter rolls will mean less fence line impacted.

The fence has worked great with our sheep. they have not even tried to get out, I think they feel comfortable because even though it is tall and a complete mesh panel they can still see me and the other animals. Set up was relatively easy and fast. If you watch the on line video and follow the steps, you will have no problem. Wonderful fencing purchase for the price!!

The permanet fencing has worked well for our dairy goats. It is stout enough to stand up to most winds that blow through the plains of IL, but when it gusts above 40mph, which happens often in the spring, we have to go around and push the posts in frequently.
We discovered that water dripping on the wires from the barn overhang cause some of the plastic insulation to melt. It also does not withstand a heavy layer of ice, but then most of our goats were not outside at that point anyway. The poles were resiliant and did not break even when covered with over a 1/2 in. of ice.
As the instructions say you must keep the fence electrified ALL the time when first training your animals to the shock. Another thing to consider with electric fencing is whether your animals will experience fear from outside the fence that would cause them to run into it regardless of their training. We had a young doe get tangled in the fence while it was on and she ended up electrocuted. We suspect that a car driving by scared her and tried to run through the fence. Instead of backing out, she continued to push into it and by the time we found her she was too far gone. This could happen with any fence, but with this one the rest of the poles stayed in place and kept the other goats from getting out.
It is easy to repair should it get torn as you are first training your animals to the fence and that is important considering the initial cost.
Would definitely recommend this product for semi-permenant placement as well as weekly moves to new pasture.

I absolutely LOVE Premier 1, their products and their customer service! The quality of my fence is great. It was soooo easy to set up and I am a city girl who knows next to nothing about fences. Now I feel like a pro! Thank you!!!
