PermaNet® Plus 12/48/3 Starter Kit
Product Details
Contain and protect your chickens in the backyard or on the pasture with this complete fence system. Effective for all types of poultry. Also useful as a perimeter fence to exclude small critters and deer from gardens, fruit orchards and tree plantings. 48" tall.
Choose this kit if you plan to move the fence one per season (or less often.)
The mesh portion of PermaNet® is exactly the same as PoultryNet® Plus. But it has stronger, larger posts—each with longer, larger steel ground spikes. That enables it to resist sagging and withstand the effects of wind, rain, ice and snow much better than normal netting. It’s a “less worries” option.
Starter Kit includes:
- 100 ft roll 48" PermaNet® Plus, double spike electric netting
- (4) 48" FiberTuff™ support posts
- SolarStop™ 80 fence energizer
- T Ground Rod, 18"
- Fence & Battery Digital Tester
Other Starter Kits:
- 42" PoultryNet® Plus—move fence daily/weekly with heavy breeds (e.g. Orpingtons and Wyandottes)
- 48" PoultryNet® Plus—move fence daily/weekly with light or flighty breeds (e.g. Leghorns and Buttercups)

- For backyard, boundary or subdivision fences that will be moved infrequently
- Can be used to contain and control livestock other than poultry, such as sheep, goats, cattle and guard dogs
Specs
Starter Kit includes:
- PermaNet® Plus 12/48/3
- 100 ft length, 48" tall electrifiable prefabricated fence. It arrives at your door as a complete roll with the double spike posts already built into the mesh/fence. Features 12 horizontals strands (11 electrified) with vertical strings placed every 3". “Plus” nets include additional line posts spaced every 6'8" to reduce sag.
- FiberTuff™ Posts
- (4) fiberglass-reinforced support posts for ends, corners and major directional changes. Use at ends to help maintain tension on the fence.
- SolarStop™ 80
- Solar powered 0.8 joule fence energizer. Will electrify 3-5 rolls of electric netting depending on soil conditions and vegetation. Includes one 12V 12Ah battery, wiring harness and 10 watt glass solar panel with built-in overcharge regulator.
- T Ground Rod
- Ground rods, which are an essential component of any electric fence, guide the pulse from the soil, back into the energizer. This 18" ground rod features a unique T handle, which makes it easier to grip when removing from soil.
- Fence & Battery Digital Tester
- For testing fence voltage and 12V battery voltage. At the end of the net, the voltage should measure at least 3,000V. Premier’s fence troubleshooting guide may help solve common problems.

Tips
An electric fence does NOT have to make a circle. You can overlap the fences or make a U-turn.
Visit this link for answers to other common fencing questions.
Precautions
Electric fence is a pain barrier, not a physical barrier. A common mistake is not electrifying it. Animals may escape or become entangled (and may die). On a % basis, entanglement is very rare, but it can and does occur. If animals are scared or starved it will not keep them in. The first time you put the animals in the net, you should be available to watch them for a while. That way if one were to get into the fence and get caught, you can turn the power off and get them loose.
Netting must be moved when tall grass covers the lower “hot” strands. The alternative? Apply a strip of herbicide to kill vegetation.
Warning! Due to risk of fire, do NOT use continuous output energizers with electric netting or electro-plastic conductors such as rope, twine or tape. Use only with a low or wide impedance intermittent pulse energizer. (Fi-Shock™ brand energizers which are sold as low impedance, continuous current output should NOT be used with electric netting.) All energizers sold on Premier’s website use an intermittent pulse and are suitable for use with electric netting.
Dry conditions and wintertime usage may reduce the effectiveness of electric fencing. Ice and heavy snow can flatten netting and thereby damage it.
Dry or frozen ground may cause posts to bend or break if inserted with force. Pilot holes may be needed. We recommend using drivable or single spike posts in hard soils. Double spike posts provide more stability when the ground is soft.
Warranty
3-year warranty for energizers and solar panels cover lightning damage and defective parts or workmanship. Should an energizer fail, we will replace the unit, bill you for the cost to do so, then reimburse you for warranted expenses after we have examined the failed unit. Misuse and flood damage are not covered.
30-day warranty for all batteries.

Haven't had it very long but so far I'm in love with it. I have standard sizes chickens and bantams. Surprisingly the bantams have not escaped! Neither have the standard sized girls, but I'm very surprised about the bantams!

Possums and/or raccoons were depleting my flock fast. I had that $600 the government sent out and could think of nothing better to spend some of that on this fence starter kit. I've used a smaller one before but had not properly matched it with it's use. That one still worked fine but was damaged. This one encloses much more area AND doesn't have to stay connected to my house! It was a bit heavy for me to set up but I "got'er done" and after charging overnight the solar charger has worked constantly despite cloudy days. No more missing chickens or eggs! And it's so much easier than digging post holes!

First time buyer. Purchased the PermaNet Plus starter kit and an extra 125 ft of netting. Very easy to set up. I won’t be moving the netting very much and got the double spiked posts. Very stable. They also include 4 heavy duty single spikes for stabilizing corners or whereever you need them. I wish they were a little more rigid. However if you really need more support, just drive T-posts where you need them and secure with non conductive string. Very happy with this product so far.

Very disappointed. Product arrived nicely. Was easy to set up. However, within just a few minutes the chickens figured out how to fly over the fence, despite being shocked a few times when walking into the fence. I called customer support and was told the wings needed clipped. Based on their inability to then access their roosts and nest boxes, as well as the number of chickens I do not want to do this. I asked about a refund and was told I could return the product but would not be refunded the return shipping. I also cut the boxes the items came in (my fault). Between new boxes and having to pay for return shipping I’m out a lot of money for something I could not use. I wish it was clearly stated that the fence alone is not sufficient to contain the chickens. Instead the web states it contains “flight birds”. Certainly not my experience as even my fat hens flew right over. Had I known I needed to clip wings I would not have purchased this had I known that.
If there’s an escape problem, we find it’s usually lead by a hen or two with the rest simply following along. Identifying her and clipping the flight feathers on one wing usually solves this problem. This does not have to be done for the whole flock.
Clipping wings reduces a bird’s ability to get take flight over 42"–48", not the 18"–24" needed to access nest boxes or roosts.

I’m loving it. Works great. Easy to set up. 100' ft of fencing. Took my husband and I just minutes to set up the very first time!
