Benefits

Netting is quick and simple to move. Even for new users, it takes less than 15 minutes to go from out-of-the-box netting to installed fence.

No extra gates needed. Just turn off the energizer and pull the first post to create an opening. For added convenience, a rigid EasyGate or a PoultryNet® Gate can be used to provide easy access without the need to turn the energizer off.

Installation

The same “unroll and then unfold” process applies to all electrified nets. Minimal strength or skill needed (and no tools). Extra supports such as FiberTuff™ step-in posts are useful at corners, curves and ends. You will need a fence energizer to electrify the net.

Precautions

PoultryNet is not effective with baby chicks that are small enough to crawl through the net openings and therefore are not deterred by the electric shock.

Electric fence is a pain barrier, not a physical barrier. A common mistake is not electrifying it. Animals may escape or become entangled (and may die). On a % basis, entanglement is very rare, but it can and does occur. If animals are scared or starved it will not keep them in. The first time you put the animals in the net, you should be available to watch them for a while. That way if one were to get into the fence and get caught, you can turn the power off and get them loose.

Netting must be moved when tall grass covers the lower “hot” strands. The alternative? Apply a strip of herbicide to kill vegetation.

Warning! Due to risk of fire, do NOT use continuous output energizers with electric netting or electro-plastic conductors such as rope, twine or tape. Use only with a low or wide impedance intermittent pulse energizer. (Fi-Shock™ brand energizers which are sold as low impedance, continuous current output should NOT be used with electric netting.) All energizers sold on Premier’s website use an intermittent pulse and are suitable for use with electric netting.

Dry conditions and wintertime usage may reduce the effectiveness of electric fencing. Ice and heavy snow can flatten netting and thereby damage it.

Dry or frozen ground may cause post spikes to bend or break if inserted with force. Pilot holes may be needed. We recommend using drivable or single spike posts in hard soils. Double spike posts provide more stability when the ground is soft.

Troubleshooting

If the voltage drops below 3000V on the net, you need to turn off the energizer and unhook the net from the energizer. Test the energizer first. If the voltage is 5000V or higher on the energizer, the problem is in the net.

If possible, separate the fence into sections. Then progressively reconnect, checking voltage as you go. When the voltage drops, you’ve identified the section with the problem. Listen for snapping sounds. This occurs when a conductor is close to a grounded wire, metal objects, fallen branches, or other green vegetation causing a “short”. Shorts cause fence voltage to collapse and allow animals to touch the fence without feeling pain.

With PoultryNet®, the lowest live strand may be caught underneath the cord retainer and touching the post’s metal spike causing a “dead short”. (This may occur with end posts, too.) Separate the energized wire from the steel spike and recheck the voltage.

Heavy green vegetation will drain the energy out of an electric fence. In areas with rapid grass growth, weeds can render netting useless by midsummer. Mow (or move) the fence line often, or spray a herbicide to reduce grass contact.

Warranty

With proper care, netting should last 5–7 years. Replacements will be prorated.

With its many horizontal and vertical lines, the 48" PoultryNet is more cumbersome to move than its 42" tall sibling, but it’s better suited for flightier chickens. Some users find that it sags too much between posts, so we also offer PoultryNet Plus, which includes additional posts. On uneven terrain, add SagStoppers to prevent the lower strands from touching the ground, helping to maintain adequate voltage.

Love these fences. As we expand our flock we keep coming back to premier1 fencing. I like the 164' fence better than the 100'. For just a little bit more money you get a lot more sqaure footage. These are easy to deploy and setup. Easy to move. We use the poultry nets for our ducks and chickens. We use the 164' fencing for our pigs as well. We have hard clay so I only buy the double stake as you can step them in. Great products. Thanks Premier1.

This is my 2nd 164 feet of this I've gotten. My first is around my chicken yard and I ordered another 164 ft that I'm going to use around my fall garden when it's done and my large compost pile so the chickens can till the soil and turn the compost. Works wonderfully. Although being 74, I need another person to help me lay it out the first time. Love it. Great quality.

This is an excellent product. Performs exactly as expected. The only drawback is that no matter how tight you pull each post you invariably end up with some sag. If there was a way to fix that without having to but buy more posts, this would be a 5 star product. Either way though it is still worth the buy. I have 2 lengths put together with a Zareba 10 mile solar charger and it works well.

I love my new PoultryNet. It's keeps my "girls " in and the other varmints out! Now I don't have to get up at 3am anymore to check on them!! Love the security of knowing they are safe even during the day! I love the ease of putting it up and taking it down. Looking forward to getting the gate (on back order). Thank you Premier1 for quality products!! I also bought the 3 gallon bucket drip waterer and in no time the "girls" we're pecking and drinking. Dripping from the bucket is minimal. Love it.
