PoultryNet® and PoultryNet® Plus 12/48/3 Kits
Use this netting kit to contain and control flighty birds while protecting them from unwanted predators. 48" tall.
You will need a fence energizer (see accessories tab) to electrify the net.
Recommended for active, flighty birds (e.g. Leghorns and Buttercups) and protection from large predators such as coyotes and dogs. For heavy, non-flying breeds, look to 42" PoultryNet kits, which is shorter and easier to handle.
Netting kit includes:
No extra gates needed. Just turn off the energizer and pull the first post to create an opening. For added convenience, a PoultryNet® Gate can be used to provide easy access without the need to turn the energizer off.
PoultryNet “Plus” is identical to standard 48" PoultryNet, but to help with sagging, we’ve added more posts to shorten the distance between them (6'8" vs. 10'). More posts means less sag and a more versatile fence which adapts easily to curves and hills.
Double spike posts are more stable in soft soils.
- Contain and control the movement of chickens, ducks and other poultry on a daily or weekly basis.
- Rotate poultry to fresh grass as a food source and to reduce disease risks.
- Keep small flocks in the backyard. When managed well, chickens are an indispensable garden tool—turning pesky insects and weeds into rich compost.
- Keeps out deer, bear, raccoons, rabbits, foxes, coyotes, stray dogs and skunks.
- Can be used to contain and control livestock other than poultry, such as sheep, goats, cattle and guard dogs.
Netting kit includes:
- 100 or 164 ft roll of 48" PoultryNet or PoultryNet Plus single spike or double spike electric netting.
- 4 48" FiberTuff™ support posts.
PoultryNet 12/48/3 is a 48" electrifiable prefabricated fence. It arrives at your door as a complete roll with the single spike or double spike posts already built into the mesh/fence. Features 12 horizontals strands (11 conductive) with vertical strings placed every 3". “Plus” nets include additional line posts spaced every 6'8" to reduce sag. Add more rolls for a larger enclosure.
FiberTuff™ Posts provide additional support around curves, corners and other major directional changes. Use at end posts to help maintain tension on the fence.
See PDFs and videos above for additional installation instructions.
Electric fence is a pain barrier, not a physical barrier. A common mistake is not electrifying it. Animals may escape or become entangled (and may die). On a % basis, entanglement is very rare, but it can and does occur. If animals are scared or starved it will not keep them in. The first time you put the animals in the net, you should be available to watch them for a while. That way if one were to get into the fence and get caught, you can turn the power off and get them loose.
Netting must be moved when tall grass covers the lower “hot” strands. The alternative? Apply a strip of herbicide to kill vegetation.
Warning! Due to risk of fire, do NOT use continuous output energizers with electric netting or electro-plastic conductors such as rope, twine or tape. Use only with a low or wide impedance intermittent pulse energizer. (Fi-Shock™ brand energizers which are sold as low impedance, continuous current output should NOT be used with electric netting.) All energizers sold on Premier’s website use an intermittent pulse and are suitable for use with electric netting.
Dry conditions and wintertime usage may reduce the effectiveness of electric fencing. Ice and heavy snow can flatten netting and thereby damage it.
Dry or frozen ground may cause post spikes to bend or break if inserted with force. Pilot holes may be needed. We recommend using drivable or single spike posts in hard soils. Double spike posts provide more stability when the ground is soft.
With PoultryNet, the bottom hot wire can slip off of the plastic portion of the end posts onto the metal spikes. This will cause a dead short and no energy will be on the fence. Unhook the energizer and slide the hot wire back onto the post. Reconnect the energizer to the net and test.

This is a step up from traditional poultry fencing options. The price is reasonable and worth it. The quality seems quite good.
I would recommend this company add weights to the bottom line and add one more wire to the lower end of the fence. I had trouble for the first week of my 4-5 week old chickens getting out of the fence if they got scared. One more horizontal wire on the first "big gap" would stop the problem all together. The weights would keep the wire for curling up. Otherwise, very good product.

We love this fence. It is the second one we bought to accommodate our expanding flock. We still use the one we bought 3 years ago. They are easy to move, hold up well in NC summer heat and keep our flock safe. We don't have it electrified but we have not lost any hens to daytime preditor since we started using it.

I have purchased this item 3 times, and a shorter style once. I use it unenergized for protecting the garden from our dogs, and it works wonders. I love the flexibility, ease of installation, quick access, and that there is no permanent infrastructure if not needed anymore.

I have a secure chicken tractor but I wanted to give my hens more space to roam during the day. Free ranging was not an option because foxes would show up daily, often in broad daylight, sometimes even standing on their hind legs trying to figure out a way into the chicken tractor!! I installed a PoultryNet Plus 12/48/3 fencing Kit in September and within a week or two the fox visits ended!! While I am still vigilant and concerned about predators, I have not seen a fox since installing the fence. I can only imagine that they have been shocked and are staying away. Better still, the hens now have expanded grazing space behind the protection of the Premier fence (100ft fence, 4 hens) - and they are loving it! Otherwise, the fence is really easy to move and use (watch the Premier videos) and shipping was really fast. This product has exceeded my expectations and I absolutely recommend it.

By golly that is the coolest fence I’ve had the pleasure of putting together. Or better yet just setting up. It was already together. Very easy to connect and set up the solar powered pulsator. Plug and play!
The chickens love their new area. I gave them a lot of room. People buy our eggs and wonder how the chickens are treated. Are they able to get out and scratch etc. This opened up a lot more area in our huge lawn, and can be easily be moved which is what i was looking for. So YES its a great fence. I hope it keeps the Yotes out.
