Which PoultryNet® is right for you?
We offer many fences to fit your situation, including complete kits, different heights and lengths, multiple colors, drivable posts and positive/negative options for dry soils. Visit this link to compare all PoultryNet options.New to electric fence? Premier’s Starter Kits may be a good choice. They include netting, extra support posts, a solar fence energizer, ground stake and a digital tester.
Benefits
No extra gates needed. Just turn off the energizer and pull the first post to create an opening. For added convenience, a PoultryNet® Gate can be used to provide easy access without the need to turn the energizer off.
PoultryNet® Plus 12/48/3 is identical to standard 48" PoultryNet, but to help with sagging, we’ve added more posts to shorten the distance between them (6'8" vs. 10'). More posts means less sag and a more versatile fence which adapts easily to curves and hills.
Double spike posts are more stable in soft soils. Green is available for those who prefer to have the fence blend into the background or landscape.
Common Uses
- Contain and control the movement of chickens, ducks and other poultry on a daily or weekly basis
- Rotate poultry to fresh grass as a food source and to reduce disease risks
- Keep small flocks in the backyard. When managed well, chickens are an indispensable garden tool—turning pesky insects and weeds into rich compost.
- Keeps out deer, bears, raccoons, rabbits, foxes, coyotes, stray dogs and skunks
- Can be used to contain and control livestock other than poultry, such as sheep, goats, cattle and guard dogs

Installation
Ensure the net is at least 2" away from anything metal (e.g. T-posts, existing wire fences, spikes on support posts, etc.)
See PDFs and videos above for additional installation instructions.
Precautions
Electric fence is a pain barrier, not a physical barrier. A common mistake is not electrifying it. Animals may escape or become entangled (and may die). On a % basis, entanglement is very rare, but it can and does occur. If animals are scared or starved it will not keep them in. The first time you put the animals in the net, you should be available to watch them for a while. That way if one were to get into the fence and get caught, you can turn the power off and get them loose.
Netting must be moved when tall grass covers the lower “hot” strands. The alternative? Apply a strip of herbicide to kill vegetation.
Warning! Due to risk of fire, do NOT use continuous output energizers with electric netting or electro-plastic conductors such as rope, twine or tape. Use only with a low or wide impedance intermittent pulse energizer. (Fi-Shock™ brand energizers which are sold as low impedance, continuous current output should NOT be used with electric netting.) All energizers sold on Premier’s website use an intermittent pulse and are suitable for use with electric netting.
Dry conditions and wintertime usage may reduce the effectiveness of electric fencing. Ice and heavy snow can flatten netting and thereby damage it.
Dry or frozen ground may cause posts to bend or break if inserted with force. Pilot holes may be needed. We recommend using drivable or single spike posts in hard soils. Double spike posts provide more stability when the ground is soft.
Troubleshooting
If possible, separate the fence into sections. Then progressively reconnect, checking voltage as you go. When the voltage drops, you’ve identified the section with the problem. Listen for snapping sounds. This occurs when a conductor is close to a grounded wire, metal objects, fallen branches, or other green vegetation causing a “short”. Shorts cause fence voltage to collapse and allow animals to touch the fence without feeling pain.

Ordered this poultry net for our very flighty chickens. It is the perfect height to keep them in. We also decided on the PoultryNet Plus for the extra poles to reduce sagging and it works beautifully! Our previous net was not from Premier 1 and it was no where near the quality of this fence!

Purchased two of the PoultryNet Plus 100' nets a few years ago. These units are the best for keeping birds in and keeping critters out (when electrified).
I purchased another 100 ft. this year to give the birds even more roaming space. All join together perfectly. The area I live has all the ground predators you can think of. Great product if you like to move fences around as I do.

The fence works well in the raining months, however when it's time for summer the soil becomes rock hard. I'd recommend the (DP) Drivable Posts. They will save you a lot of time with a little bit more effort but trust me you wont regret it. Overall the fence does what it's intended, just best to do your research about your region if you're new to the area. Luckily Premier 1 sells replacement posts so it was a small cost but effective solution. I recommend the product, just not for this region.

I've had the fence up for about 2 weeks now. I bought the starter set with solar, battery, 100' fence, and it came with 4 extra strong poles for corners and a tester so you know the fence is hot.
I charged the battery the whole night after it arrived and it's been raining a lot so very cloudy but 4-6 hours a day has not run the battery dead. The whole netting thing was super easy to set up by myself. I used the weed wacker to trim the grass down around the fence line because my neighbor told me that grass touching the bottom lines could ground them, not sure if that's true but it was only 5 extra minutes to trim the grass.
The price was not cheap but I also didn't want to deal with a cheap system. The extras in the starter set were really nice. I made my fence into a circle and the 4 extra strong poles for corners that came in the starter pack were super helpful on the downhill slope. I also bought an extra 100' of fence and it seems like the battery will have not issues keeping 200' going with sunlight only (at least I think it can but can't comment for sure yet).
On that note I am completely satisfied with the whole system but if I had to say a negative thing it would be that it would be helpful if there were status lights on the battery. Something like 4 lights when it's full, and one light blinking when the battery is very low (like not getting enough sun to charge). But, so far having it on for 4-6 hours a day in the afternoon the system stays on just fine. The instructions do say that the battery light will blink red when it's low, so they do have a way for you to know that it's low. And my chickens only got zapped about 4 times. After that I have not seen any get zapped. So, once the fence is hot the first day I think you could actually not even turn it on most days and they would think it was still on. However, if a raccoon or the neighbor's dogs came by I would want them to get zapped which is the main reason I bought the fence.
Also a feature that I didn't realize until I was setting it up is that you can attach your battery red (hot) cable to any point on the fence and it electrifies the whole thing. Based on where I get sun I needed my solar to be in the middle of the fence and you just clamp the red line from the battery to the fence anywhere and it works.
So, in summary this fence was recommended by my neighbor and it's working great and was super easy to set up.

We are using 4 rolls of this fence to day-pen two different flocks of ducks. It works very well for us unless we crowd the duckies too hard in which case they will go through even the smaller holes but that is something we have learned to deal with. It is sooooo much lighter and easier to handle than wire of any type. Pair it with the 48" gates and, whoooey! You got an easy-peasey duck pen. Pricey? Yes, but worth it. We will always be able to electrify if necessary. We also have goats and pigs and this would work well for them too.
