New to electric fence? Premier’s Starter Kits may be a good choice. They include netting, extra support posts, a solar fence energizer, ground stake and a digital tester.
No extra gates needed. Just turn off the energizer and pull the first post to create an opening. For added convenience, a PoultryNet® Gate can be used to provide easy access without the need to turn the energizer off.
PoultryNet® Plus 12/48/3 is identical to standard 48" PoultryNet, but to help with sagging, we’ve added more posts to shorten the distance between them (6'8" vs. 10'). More posts means less sag and a more versatile fence which adapts easily to curves and hills.
Double spike posts are more stable in soft soils. Green is available for those who prefer to have the fence blend into the background or landscape.
- Contain and control the movement of chickens, ducks and other poultry on a daily or weekly basis
- Rotate poultry to fresh grass as a food source and to reduce disease risks
- Keep small flocks in the backyard. When managed well, chickens are an indispensable garden tool—turning pesky insects and weeds into rich compost.
- Keeps out deer, bears, raccoons, rabbits, foxes, coyotes, stray dogs and skunks
- Can be used to contain and control livestock other than poultry, such as sheep, goats, cattle and guard dogs

Electric fence is a pain barrier, not a physical barrier. A common mistake is not electrifying it. Animals may escape or become entangled (and may die). On a % basis, entanglement is very rare, but it can and does occur. If animals are scared or starved it will not keep them in. The first time you put the animals in the net, you should be available to watch them for a while. That way if one were to get into the fence and get caught, you can turn the power off and get them loose.
Netting must be moved when tall grass covers the lower “hot” strands. The alternative? Apply a strip of herbicide to kill vegetation.
Warning! Due to risk of fire, do NOT use continuous output energizers with electric netting or electro-plastic conductors such as rope, twine or tape. Use only with a low or wide impedance intermittent pulse energizer. (Fi-Shock™ brand energizers which are sold as low impedance, continuous current output should NOT be used with electric netting.) All energizers sold on Premier’s website use an intermittent pulse and are suitable for use with electric netting.
Dry conditions and wintertime usage may reduce the effectiveness of electric fencing. Ice and heavy snow can flatten netting and thereby damage it.
Dry or frozen ground may cause posts to bend or break if inserted with force. Pilot holes may be needed. We recommend using drivable or single spike posts in hard soils. Double spike posts provide more stability when the ground is soft.
If possible, separate the fence into sections. Then progressively reconnect, checking voltage as you go. When the voltage drops, you’ve identified the section with the problem. Listen for snapping sounds. This occurs when a conductor is close to a grounded wire, metal objects, fallen branches, or other green vegetation causing a “short”. Shorts cause fence voltage to collapse and allow animals to touch the fence without feeling pain.

I love this stuff! A friend told me about it; until then I didn’t know “electrified poultry netting” even existed. Originally I bought the kit, but this last purchase was for an extra 100' of netting. It’s completely doable for one (60 year-old female) person to install and move the fencing. Everything works as advertised right out of the box, and every time I’ve had an issue with voltage it’s because of something I’ve done or failed to do, like completely clear away vegetation.
Customer support couldn’t be better. They pick up the phone right away, they have answers, they’re polite, and they always say, “Call us back if you have any more questions!” like they wish you would. The netting for my last order was backlogged, but if you ask to be notified by email they’ll actually let you know when it’s back in stock, and with both orders the products arrived intact within a couple of days.
Having lived with the netting for six months now I can also say that it holds up really well and looks like it just came out of the box, despite its exposure to Texas heat and sun. In practice, if you install it where it’s exposed to draining water, as ours is in our pasture, some of the posts can come loose and the fence will sag from the runoff during heavy downpours. It surprised me the first time, but now after heavy rain I make checking the installation part of the routine. That’s not a fault of the product, though. The only thing I can ding the netting for is the posts. Until or unless they beef up the posts that come with the netting, you really should get the add-on FiberTuff posts to prevent sagging. Not all the sections need them, but an extra 4–5 FT posts per 100' of netting really helps.

The order was handled promptly and it arrived in fine shape. Very happy with the electric fence, as always!

This is my second 50 foot poultry net. I have one around a garden to protect from chickens and another to keep chickens in. Much easier to handle and put away for winter and reuse than 100 ft fence. I like the portability and looks, thinking of purchasing yet another 50 ft fence.

We made our first purchase in July 2022 to protect our small (1.5 acre) vineyard from racoons. We wanted to be able to move the fence or add more to expand the vineyard. The fence was delivered fast and accurately. The rolls were super easy to install. We have heavy clay soil so we appreciate the double spikes. The fence worked perfectly! I got some small plastic pegs to tack down the bottom line between the posts for roughly 100 feet where the ground was uneven and a groundhog crawled under the fence. The plastic pegs are used for invisible fence or robotic mowers. The fence deterred the racoons, deer, turkeys, fox and bears. We were so happy were purchased more to expand the vineyard. We were able to harvest last fall without critter help and the new shoots were protected from the deer this spring. We highly recommend Premier 1 fencing.

Easy to put up and take down. The double spike makes it easy to get the stakes into the ground by stepping on them. Our other net only has one spike and it can be difficult to assemble when it’s really dry ground.
I will say—this net will NOT contain young birds. Ours are fully feathered now, but still only about 3 months old, and they walk right through the holes at the bottom. PART of their ability to do so is because the net sags, and so the holes that are higher up are actually close enough to the ground to where the chickens can get through them. I am not sure why, even at 10-ft lengths, the net is still sagging that much. It is annoying.
Good product overall, just be aware if you have any chickens younger than full-grown, they will be free range until they can be properly contained.
