New to electric fence? Premier’s Starter Kits may be a good choice. They include netting, extra support posts, a solar fence energizer, ground stake and a digital tester.
No extra gates needed. Just turn off the energizer and pull the first post to create an opening. For added convenience, a PoultryNet® Gate can be used to provide easy access without the need to turn the energizer off.
PoultryNet® Plus 12/48/3 is identical to standard 48" PoultryNet, but to help with sagging, we’ve added more posts to shorten the distance between them (6'8" vs. 10'). More posts means less sag and a more versatile fence which adapts easily to curves and hills.
Double spike posts are more stable in soft soils. Green is available for those who prefer to have the fence blend into the background or landscape.
- Contain and control the movement of chickens, ducks and other poultry on a daily or weekly basis
- Rotate poultry to fresh grass as a food source and to reduce disease risks
- Keep small flocks in the backyard. When managed well, chickens are an indispensable garden tool—turning pesky insects and weeds into rich compost.
- Keeps out deer, bears, raccoons, rabbits, foxes, coyotes, stray dogs and skunks
- Can be used to contain and control livestock other than poultry, such as sheep, goats, cattle and guard dogs

Electric fence is a pain barrier, not a physical barrier. A common mistake is not electrifying it. Animals may escape or become entangled (and may die). On a % basis, entanglement is very rare, but it can and does occur. If animals are scared or starved it will not keep them in. The first time you put the animals in the net, you should be available to watch them for a while. That way if one were to get into the fence and get caught, you can turn the power off and get them loose.
Netting must be moved when tall grass covers the lower “hot” strands. The alternative? Apply a strip of herbicide to kill vegetation.
Warning! Due to risk of fire, do NOT use continuous output energizers with electric netting or electro-plastic conductors such as rope, twine or tape. Use only with a low or wide impedance intermittent pulse energizer. (Fi-Shock™ brand energizers which are sold as low impedance, continuous current output should NOT be used with electric netting.) All energizers sold on Premier’s website use an intermittent pulse and are suitable for use with electric netting.
Dry conditions and wintertime usage may reduce the effectiveness of electric fencing. Ice and heavy snow can flatten netting and thereby damage it.
Dry or frozen ground may cause posts to bend or break if inserted with force. Pilot holes may be needed. We recommend using drivable or single spike posts in hard soils. Double spike posts provide more stability when the ground is soft.
If possible, separate the fence into sections. Then progressively reconnect, checking voltage as you go. When the voltage drops, you’ve identified the section with the problem. Listen for snapping sounds. This occurs when a conductor is close to a grounded wire, metal objects, fallen branches, or other green vegetation causing a “short”. Shorts cause fence voltage to collapse and allow animals to touch the fence without feeling pain.

Very nice electric net fence.

This is just the ticket! Our chickens were free ranging with several predators around. This fence has given us (and them) a nice level of security. Our older birds have no problems staying within the fence. I highly recommend the double spike version and in our rocky soil, there has been no problems setting the fence where we wanted it. It adds extra stability. The fence was set up within about 20 minutes, including the extra corner posts. It is money well spent.

We purchased additional fencing to expand our chickens’ foraging range, yet still be safe from most predators. As with any Premier 1 product, we are very happy with the quality, fast shipping and top notch customer service. We absolutely recommend to anyone needing farm/homesteading equipment/supplies.

Great netting for poultry! It’s even keeping in 8 week old puppies until we can find them new homes. Easy to install. 30 minutes to get it and an energizer up and running and we have zero electric fence experience. Highly recommend!

Great netting, as always. I like that the rolls are available in various lengths, I’m currently using it to separate my rams from the ewes until I’m ready for them to breed in late fall. (I’d rather have lambs on fresh green pasture than in the dead of winter.) The shorter run between poles along with the stouter poles makes it ideal for keeping them apart. (No sag in the fence.) I also use it for keeping my pasture chickens safe from the coyotes and bobcats. Thanks for having lots of options for us grazers!
