Product Details
A prefabricated, portable electric fence that has 12 horizontal strands (11 conductive), is 48" tall installed and has string verticals every 3". PrimaPosts™ are built into the mesh every 10 ft.
PoultryNet® with PrimaPosts™ keeps in chickens, ducks, geese and other poultry while keeping their ground-based predators out. Recommended for active, flighty birds. The taller 48" net is more likely to discourage large predators such as coyotes and dogs.

Benefits
Its very low electrical resistance (35 ohms per 1000') is important for fences that are either long or will experience high weed contact.

- Blue & White — Item #208451
- 4-legged animals generally have poor color vision, but see shades of blue clearly. Because blue is an unusual color when seen on the ground, curious livestock (and their predators) check the fence with their sensitive noses. The result is a memorable electric shock. Animals conclude the fence itself is painful—and learn to avoid it.
Common Uses
- Contain and control the movement of chickens, ducks and other poultry on a daily or weekly basis.
- Rotate poultry to fresh grass as a food source and to reduce disease risks.
- Keep small flocks in the backyard. When managed well, chickens are an indispensable garden tool—turning pesky insects and weeds into rich compost.

Installation
Ensure the net is at least 2" away from anything metal (e.g. T-posts, existing wire fences, spikes on support posts, etc.)

Precautions
Netting must be moved when tall grass covers the lower “hot” strands. The alternative? Apply a strip of herbicide to kill vegetation.
Warning! Due to risk of fire, do NOT use continuous output energizers with electric netting or electro-plastic conductors such as rope, twine or tape. Use only with a low or wide impedance intermittent pulse energizer. (Fi-Shock™ brand energizers which are sold as low impedance, continuous current output should NOT be used with electric netting.) All energizers sold on Premier’s website use an intermittent pulse and are suitable for use with electric netting.
Dry conditions and wintertime usage may reduce the effectiveness of electric fencing. Ice and heavy snow can flatten netting and thereby damage it.
Dry or frozen ground may cause posts to bend or break if inserted with force. Pilot holes may be needed when using PrimaPosts™ in hard soil. We recommend using drivable or single spike posts in hard soils. Double spike posts provide more stability when the ground is soft.
Troubleshooting
If possible, separate the fence into sections. Then progressively reconnect, checking voltage as you go. When the voltage drops, you’ve identified the section with the problem. Listen for snapping sounds. This occurs when a conductor is close to a grounded wire, metal objects, fallen branches, or other green vegetation causing a “short”. Shorts cause fence voltage to collapse and allow animals to touch the fence without feeling pain.

I have been using Premier 1 poultry netting for approximately 6 years. When I first purchased poultry netting the fences were amazing. The posts were flexible but durable. Yes, sometimes the net “sagged”- this was remedied by adding a post in that spot. I still have all my net fences that I first purchased and they are in great condition, even after 6 years of being outdoors year round.
As my poultry hobby grew into a small business I needed to add more net fences. I purchased three more rolls of poultry netting in spring of 2026 and when I opened the package I noticed there was a major change to the posts that are used in the new fence rolls. The posts are lighter weight, which I thought would be a good thing. However, after just a few weeks I began seeing issues. These new posts are made with a more rigid plastic, at first it keeps the nets from sagging, but if wind picks up (typical in the Midwest) the posts collapse near the spike, like a soda straw that gets bent. After this occurs the fence is never the same. The old posts could be bent and they would spring back and still do their job. The new posts cannot do this.
The new posts also fade in the sunlight and turn that yellow color reminiscent of old plastic electronics. Which I suspect is a sign they will not last in the sun year round as well as the older posts.
Additionally, the part of the post that meets the spike is not one continuous piece like the solid core that existed in older posts. The spike-pole joint-for lack of better terminology, can be bent by wind blowing the net which results in the fence taking on a lean.
I wanted to replace the posts on then new netting with same posts I have on the older fences, but when I called Premier 1 they transferred me to R&D where I was informed there are no posts available like the older ones anymore. I explained the problem with the new posts and was told “the whole world wanted a lighter more rigid post and that’s what they got.” The R&D dept. must have felt bad about my complaint so they encouraged me to purchase the “corner support posts” and sent me 5 free new posts. This was a nice gesture, but it did not remedy the problem which is that the new posts, regardless of if they are or aren’t staked in corners, fail even in the straight stretches of netting if the wind gets intense- which happens multiple times a year in the Midwest.
I went from being an avid fan of Premier 1 net fences to being completely dissatisfied before I could even run these new fences for one whole season. I like my old fences and posts- they’re still going strong and have never failed me. I have three new rolls of 164’ netting that have crushed, flimsy, hollow posts that are lightweight but not durable. I will likely keep the new nets and remove all the new posts and replace them when I find a post similar to the old posts. In the future I will not be recommending or purchasing any more Premier1 fences with these new posts.
One clarification: the netting referenced in this review is a different product than shown above. The PrimaPost posts described here are solid, similar to the original PVC design the reviewer prefers. They are more rigid than PVC, though the weight savings compared to the same diameter PVC post is minimal.
Regarding the PrimaLite posts now used in standard PoultryNet, we haven’t seen a post bend or crush at the base from high winds, including on our own test fences here in windy Iowa. Heavy wind may loosen the soil pack around the spike over time, which can cause the fence to lean; since netting is designed to be temporary, that’s generally a quick reset.
We have seen PrimaLite posts crush under the weight of an ATV or chicken tractor, or from bending the fence down to step over it. If that’s a concern, PrimaPost may be a better fit — it trades some of the weight and rigidity gains many customers have asked for in exchange for added durability.

I love Premier 1’s poultry netting. We use the 48 inch tall fence. We use it for our multiple flocks of laying hens and some upcoming pullets. We also use it for our sheep flock while we are in the process of making more permanent electric fencing for them.
We have the netting around most of the perimeter of our garden as well since the chicken yards are so close. We have not had any critters in our garden and our flocks have all been safe from predators, which we do have.

This is my 9th Premier 1 net and it is my favorite. It is the easiest one to move. The poles are thinner and it is lighter than the other nets.
