Same powerful motor drives both our clipping head or our shearing head. Requires just 2 screws, 3 minutes and a screwdriver to switch. Clipper head will drive either Premier clipping blades or those made by Lister®. Shear head will drive all 3 in. combs and 4 point cutters.
Our clipper history…
Premier introduced Lister clippers to the USA in 1987. When we started, almost no one in the USA knew of them. By the late 1990s we were Lister’s largest customer and Lister was a well-known name in the sheep show industry.
When Wahl purchased Lister in 2001 we were not happy—in part because we had offered to purchase Lister ourselves just 1 year earlier.
Our response was to develop our own line of clippers, shears, blades, combs and cutters. While doing so we used the knowledge gained over 14 years to:
- Improve the designs
- Reduce prices to our end-users even further

Before you buy…
- What species will be shorn or clipped? Sheep, cattle, goats, camelids, etc.
- What result do you need? Will the machine be removing fiber, hair or wool? Will the finish be for the show ring or the farm/range? A shearing machine will go through dirty matted hair/fiber faster than a clipping machine—and resharpening a cutter and comb is less expensive and less frequent.
- What is your experience level? A clipping machine is much easier to set up and use. But a shearing machine will push easily through dirty, heavy fiber and hair. It’s faster too!
Common mistakes:
- Improperly tensioned or dull blades/combs/cutters are the main culprits for lack of cutting and overheating. Over-tensioning will also reduce the longevity of blades/combs/cutters. Under-tensioning reduces the cutting ability. Dull blades can often be resharpened.
- Proper lubrication is essential for the function of blades/combs/cutters. Lubrication reduces friction (heat) and can increase the longevity of blades/combs/cutters.
- Filters can clog with dirt and fiber. Periodically remove the filters and scrub them with soapy water and a toothbrush. Dry and replace.
- “Air-shearing.” This occurs when a clipper or shearer is held outside of the fleece, fiber or hair. The extra friction between the blades/combs/cutters creates heat and dulls the cutting blades, combs and/or cutter.

We sharpen most large clipper blades on automated machines. Combs and cutters are sharpened on high-speed grinding wheels by our sharpening experts.
Warning! Blades, combs and cutters can be damaged (and even ruined) during sharpening by those without proper machines or methods.
When sending
Improperly packaged blades, combs and cutters result in damaged boxes and missing equipment. Not to mention that sharp objects poking out of boxes are a hazard to postal workers. When packaging your items, please ensure all blades are wrapped and secured.
