Dead Blow Hammer
Versatile hammer delivers a controlled impact with minimal vibration and rebound. It’s a great tool whenever force is needed while minimizing damage to struck surfaces.
We like them for installing electrified netting with drivable posts* and for pounding ground rods into hard soils.
*Netting with drivable posts include a built-in drive cap (brown in color) which can be struck with this Dead Blow Hammer or a non-steel mallet.

Not the best, but will do for now.

Handles great. Balanced and weighty. I really like it.

This hammer has been helping me erect 10 rolls of 48" ElectroNet for a semi-permanent chicken range for some young chickens. Our soil here is rocky clay, full of shale, and it is now very dry. We have had only three measurable rains since February—I am writing this in mid-May—and the heaviest rain was 3/4". Also, where I am working are many tree roots. This hammer is great!
Please understand, if I hit a rock I'll usually try to dodge it or use my cordless drill to make a pilot hole. Shale is soft and brittle unless it's a ledge. But pushing the posts in by hand is far too hard even when I don't hit anything big. With the hammer, the posts go in, inch by inch, and are very solid.
So I don't understand the several highly negative reviews here. I wonder if they were trying to work in frigid temps with frozen soil and brittle plastic? Regardless, that's not my experience. I can feel the substance in the hammer shifting to throw weight behind the blows. It is working beautifully.

Do not buy this hammer. It will not pound posts without falling apart.

This is the only product from Premier 1 that was an absolute bust. Basically, if your ground is hard enough that you can’t get the spikes into it by hand, it will be hard enough for this hammer to completely fall apart the first time you use it. I now have dayglo orange plastic all over by my fence, spikes still aren’t in the ground, and I now have a rusty metal hammer with a bit of plastic left on it. Absolute waste of money.
